Many think mental abuse only involves overt signs of disrespect, aggressive body language, and nasty comments.
This may look like...

Screaming and invading one's personal space
Yelling insults
Targeting insecurities
Weaponising personal information against them

While this is all mental abuse, there are a lot of other more hidden types of mental abuse that so often go overlooked... and although they're less obvious, they can be equally damaging.
This may look like...

Repeatedly dismissing, denying, and invalidating your emotions
For example, saying things like "you're crazy", "you're so dramatic", or "you're too sensitive" whenever you voice your feelings or confront them about something they ve done thats hurtful.

Putting down the things that matter to you
For example, belittling your achievements, putting down your goals / dreams, or mocking something you're passionate about

second guessing everything you do
Making you doubt the things that are aligned with your values
Constantly eroding your boundaries

If you've been mentally abused please remember:
Your voice matters, even if it hasn't been listened to
Your feelings matter, even if theyve been invalidated

Never forget that maintaining your mental health should be a choice you make on a daily basis. Here are some suggestions for making your mental health a daily priority.

1. Remain in touch with those who bring you joy.
Make time for that friend or cousin you have wanted to call for a month and dial their number

2. Give self-care a high priority.
Self-care is making daily decisions with your mental health in mind, not just treating yourself to a spa day or a staycation at your favorite hotel every now and again. Self-care includes maintaining healthy diet and exercise routines, getting enough sleep and breaks from work, and detaching yourself from people who disturb your mental and emotional well-being. Consider it as your self-defense against burnout.

3. Say no more often.
Utilize your time wisely. Every time you say yes when you really want to say no, you are placing the happiness of other people above your own, and doing so obviously implies neglecting your own mental health. You should create boundaries and prioritize yourself, whether it’s at work, home, or with friends.

4. Demonstrate gratitude
According to research, people who often express thankfulness are happier overall and less likely to experience stress in their daily lives. You’ll stay more grounded if you practice expressing gratitude for all the wonderful things you have in your life. Expressing thankfulness does not imply that you should not be angry or feel frustrated when something unfortunate occurs to you, but rather that you should take a minute to reflect on the circumstance constructively or perhaps to recall a time when something wonderful occurred for which you are extremely grateful.

5. Speak with a mental health professional
When we encounter difficulties, feel down, or are going through a rough patch in life, we frequently share it with our friends and family, but sometimes nothing seems to help. You shouldn’t avoid seeking psychological assistance during such times
