We are celebrating this year by highlighting the importance of groundwater.
The world's largest distributed source of freshwater, groundwater flows into inland bodies of water like streams, rivers, and lakes to supply seasonal water to life on the land. Wetlands are vital sources of freshwater for livelihood, agriculture, and industrial uses.
In spite of this, aquifers are frequently overexploited and polluted.
Today being World Water Day, let's rethink all our actions so they don't negatively impact this vital natural resource. Though groundwater is beneath our feet, we hold the key to solving its crisis.
Also, don't forget to take water today.
