Cesare Mencarini, a 17-year-old Italian student studying in the UK, successfully built a nuclear fusion reactor as part of his A-Level project.
After 18 months of development, Mencarini’s reactor produced plasma and was showcased at the Cambridge Science Festival.
Initially met with skepticism due to safety concerns, he proceeded after thorough risk assessments.
Mencarini, praised by his teachers, hopes to pursue engineering and further his experience at the University of Bristol. His work is seen as a potential breakthrough for the energy industry.
