Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood and one of the best ways to make that happen is by teaching empathy.
The truth is, kids often go through struggles we may not see, maybe it’s a worn-out uniform, a tough morning at home, or just a bad day. By learning to “step into someone else’s shoes,” children begin to notice, understand, and respond with kindness instead of judgment.
This doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple “what if” questions, gentle role play, or pausing to reflect on someone else’s feelings are powerful tools. The goal isn’t to pressure them, but to create safe, supportive ways for them to practice perspective, compassion, and understanding.
When empathy is nurtured early, children grow into thoughtful adults, people who handle challenges with care, treat others kindly, and help prevent harm before it begins.
