Today, as we mark World Health Day 2026, the theme “Together for health. Stand with science.” resonates deeply here in Nigeria.

Across our communities, from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt to Enugu, we see firsthand how health challenges are interconnected. From infectious diseases to maternal health, food security to environmental changes, the solutions we need must be rooted in science, collaboration, and trust.

Nigeria has made meaningful progress through scientific innovation: improved vaccination campaigns, better disease surveillance, and stronger public health responses. But we also know there is more to be done especially in ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of location or income, has access to quality healthcare.

Standing with science means:

* Trusting evidence-based healthcare and combating misinformation
* Supporting our healthcare workers and researchers
* Investing in local innovation and data-driven solutions
* Strengthening partnerships between government, private sector, and communities

Health is not just a medical issue, it is an economic, social, and national priority. A healthier population means a stronger, more resilient Nigeria.

On this World Health Day, let’s commit to working together because our collective health depends on it.
