🚨 Arsenal will have to sell at least one first-team player this summer. It is understood that there are discussions around who would yield the most lucrative sale & whether more than one player might have to go. Gabriel Martinelli & Ben White are strong candidates. []

Arteta has granted Mikel Merino permission to travel to Spain to continue his rehabilitation process after the Spanish midfielder completed his surgery.

The idea is for him to be with his friends and family, which could be vital for his recovery.

Unfortunately, he is out for the rest of the season.

Mansfield manager Nigel Clough on Arsenal: “Our players know the gulf. We’re a bottom half of the League One table side playing against top of the Premier League. Without breaking a sweat they could easily demolish us. But you just had a team from National League North go and knock out the holders. These sorts of shocks can happen.

“We don’t know who they are going to play, but we know roughly what their formation will be and we know that whichever Arsenal team is put out is going to be incredibly strong at set plays, especially corners. We can concentrate on those sorts of things. But in terms of the open play and what their individuals can do, it will be bit more difficult to prepare for that.”

Michael Owen on Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler’s criticism of Arsenal:

“Hürzeler might change his mind if he’s going for a title. Then and any old win will do. Listen, Arsenal have played well for the vast majority of the season and it’s the oldest saying in the football book, sometimes you’ve got to win playing ugly. Arsenal have done that as well this season and fair play to them. They find a way of winning.

“That’s starts in Arsenal’s case with having a very strong defence, a very good goalkeeper and a very organised defence, a solid midfield. They aren’t what Liverpool have been, aren’t what Manchester City have been over the last decade or so. Basically blitzing teams scoring loads of goals but also conceding a few as well so they’re not that style of play.

“They are well drilled and as soon as they score one you rarely see them not picking up the points. Of course they had a bit of a blip at Wolves not so long ago. Apart from that when they score you can just see them shutting out games. They hardly created anything last night but Brighton didn’t really look like scoring either. Brighton had a lot of pressure but Arsenal defended their box really well.”
