We celebrated World Food Safety Day 2025 in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Abuja, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Lagos State Ministry of Health, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Lagos State Safety Commission, Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA), Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Enterprise of Nigeria (NASME), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Private Organizations, Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), and other collaborating Organizations.
We also celebrated Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day (MSMEs) as adopted by the UN General Assembly on 6 April, 2017, UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization recognizing the need to focus on MSMEs in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular in promoting innovation, creativity and decent work for all.
Recognizing also in formalization, participation and growth, of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in international, regional and national markets including through access for all to capacity building, financial services such as affordable micro finance and credits.
Recognizing further the need for sustainable business practices and the importance of principles for responsible business and investing.
This is to safeguard consumer health through availability of safe, nutritious and healthy foods as well as correct and improve unsafe practices embarked upon by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), operating in the food supply chain, while supporting sustainable food security in Lagos State (20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Community Development Areas).
