WHY DOES NI**LE PAIN HAPPEN AFTER CHILD BIRTH??

Hello, incredible mama! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›

As you start your breastfeeding journey, you might find that your ni***es feel sore, tender, or even quite painful. This is so common, but please know you don't have to just "tough it out." Ni**le pain can make feeding stressful, and we want to help you find comfort and peace.

Ni**le pain is usually a sign of one of two things:

1. Latching Issues: In the first few weeks, the most common reason for pain is a shallow latch.. This means your baby is only getting the ni**le into their mouth, not a good, large portion of the darker area (ar**la) as well. The constant rubbing on the small, sensitive tip can lead to soreness, cracking, or blisters. As you and your baby learn, the latch gets better, and the pain usually goes away.

2. Skin Change: Right after birth, your body is getting used to the powerful sucking action. The skin of your ni***es is stretching, softening, and adjusting to the constant moisture and friction. Itโ€™s like breaking in a new pair of shoesโ€”it takes time for the skin to toughen up in a good way.

So, mama... I hope you have learned something new. FOLLOW THIS PAGE for more maternity and childcare tips.

IMPORTANT SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS FOR YOUR TEETHING BABY

Hello, wonderful mama! ๐Ÿ’›

As you look for relief for your baby's teething discomforts, it is essential to know which methods to avoid to keep your baby safe.

1. AVOID Topical Numbing Gels/Tablets: Products with ingredients like Benzocaine or Lidocaine are often not recommended for babies. They can wash away quickly and some have been linked to serious side effects. Never use them without your doctor's approval.

2. AVOID Teething Jewelry: Necklaces, bracelets, or anklets made of amber or other materials should never be worn by your baby, especially while sleeping. They pose a serious risk of choking and strangulation.

Also, to debunk the myth that we commonly know in Africa. Teething Does Not Cause Fever or Diarrhea. While your baby may have a slight rise in temperature from the gum inflammation, teething does not cause a high fever (above 101ยฐF or 38.3ยฐC) or diarrhea. If your baby has these symptoms, call your pediatrician.

So Mama, you are doing a great job watching out for your little one. Teething feels like forever, but it is temporary. Be patient, be gentle, and trust that you are their best source of comfort!

WHAT I DO FOR MY BABY'S ITCHING GUMS!

Hey Mama!๐Ÿ’›

When those tiny teeth start growing the pressure and itching can make your baby want to chew on everything! This is a great chance to give them something safe and soothing.

1. I Give Gentle Counter-Pressure
Sometimes, the best relief is to push back on the gums where the tooth is trying to come through.

To give your baby Gum Massage, you need to Wash your hands well and gently rub your babyโ€™s sore gums with a clean fingertip. The light pressure often feels really good to them.

You can also give your baby, Safe Teething Toys. I gave mine, a firm clean rubber teething ring. However, you can also try the silicone teething ring or a toy. But it has to be very clean. Make sure the teething ring is one solid piece and has no small parts that could come off.

Another care you can offer your baby's sore gums, is to use the "Power of Cold".

A cool temperature helps numb the gums and calm the swelling.

Use a chilled Washcloth. I often dampen a clean washcloth, twist it into a knot, and put it in the *refrigerator* (not the freezer) for a bit. The cool, damp cloth is wonderful for gnawing.

I also tried the Chilled Teether/Spoon. Where you Pop a clean, solid teething ring or even a clean metal spoon into the refrigerator for a short time. Avoid freezing them solid, as anything too hard can actually hurt your baby's delicate gums.

You can also try Chilled Foods. That is, if your baby is 6+ months. If your baby is already eating solid foods, offering a little bit of cold yogurt, cold applesauce, or a piece of chilled soft fruit in a mesh feeder can be very soothing.

So mama, I hope these tip help your baby get through this teething milestone!

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED ABOUT GIVING BIRTH

Hello, mama! Every birth story is special, and every mama comes out of the experience with a lesson. If I could share just one truth with you about giving birth, it would be this:

**The most important thing I learned is that you are stronger than you think, and your body knows exactly what to do.**

Before giving birth, it's easy to feel nervous. We hear so many different stories and worry about pain, timing, or plans. We spend so much time reading books and watching videos, trying to control something that is naturally wild and beautiful.

But when the time comes, something amazing happens. Your body takes over.

๐Ÿ‘ถ๐ŸฝTrust Your Instincts: During labor, you will find yourself moving, breathing, and making sounds you never thought you would. Those are your instincts working! Don't fight them. Your body is guiding you through each moment.
๐Ÿคฐ๐ŸฝLabor is Work, Not Suffering: Yes, labor is hard work. It requires energy and focus. But think of it as the most important, meaningful work you will ever do. Each contraction is bringing your baby closer to you.
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿผ The Power of Release: The moment you stop worrying about the clock and just "let go" โ€”let your body lead and surrender to the processโ€”is often when things start moving forward.

No matter how your baby arrives, vaginally or by C-section, you will find a depth of strength you didn't know you had.

So, when your time comes, take a deep breath, look at your partner (or your support person), and tell yourself this simple truth: "I am strong. My body is capable. I trust the process."

You are already a powerhouse, mama. You've got this beautiful job to do!
