Workplace Psychology
Human behavior in organizations holds both the highest potential and the greatest risks for the success of the business. There is incredible potential for collaborative action from Organizations to build and create and improve the quality of life. There is, another side to this, Humans have the capacity to resist and even actively oppose the systems and processes in place at a business.
Working with the human dimension of business is one of the keys to success. In a similar way that businesses need clear financial direction and must comply with legal and regulatory requirements, it is essential to maximize the human benefits of the workforce in a sustainable way. Creating a mindful workplace fosters the development of qualities that help excellence to emerge. From NIYI BALOGUN(Workplace Psychologist)

WORKPLACE PSYCHOPATH PARTII
Leadership expert Tim Dalmau says spotting a psychopath is a tricky but not impossible task.To ensure they don't completely suck the life out of you, these five-point checklist will help you to finding them out:
* CHARMING BUT MANIPULATIVE
A likable and charming storyteller, the workplace psychopath seems sane, sensible and in control.In time the cracks will show and you notice they can be manipulative, deceitful and ruthless. They may play off the gullibility of others and never display loyalty, empathy, guilt or remorse.
* BURN YOU ONCE AND WILL BURN YOU TWICE
Generally the psychopath in your office will live what appears to be a normal work life and most don't do anything criminal or illegal. But over time you and your co-workers will understand you can't trust him or her or, if you do, your trust will be abused. If you've been burnt once, steer clear because it will most certainly happen again if you let it.
* A SOCIAL CHAMELEON
Psychopaths are skilled at masking their true colours, making them difficult to detect. They are adept at communication and often shift their persona or way of being to meet the new circumstance, especially when creating an impression for those above them in the company or firm.
* NOT A TEAM PLAYER
They apply their destructive trade mostly in one-on-one relationships and pay little regard to the rules and regulations of the corporation. They don't seem committed to the long-term goals, the mission or the values of the organisation for which they work, and don't always exhibit what we might call a strong work ethic.

* A RECRUITER'S DREAM
In interviews for leadership and strategic thinking roles, where the recruiter's intuition is important to selection, the psychopath excels. Their excellent communication skills come to the fore.The true psychopath can easily present the characteristics being sought after by those doing the hiring.Their inability to experience feeling for others is often mistaken as an ability to make hard decisions and stay calm in a crisis. Recruiters need to listen to any inner doubts and check them out.

Workplace Psychopath
In every career you will find some top leaders in an Organization who are intelligent, charming, funny, hugely energetic and full of great ideas they may always be very happy to share, preferably over a bottle of two or wine!.
Infact they can be terribly impulsive, a master of manipulation, often humiliating those who ‘disappointed’ them and resorting to threats and bullying behaviour when things didn’t go their way.
It is good to realized early on that to staying one step ahead, recognizing what they are up to and keeping on their ‘good’ side will be critical to your career, all the time mopping up after them while others fell by the wayside, unable to find the resilience required to soldier on.
As your career progressed, You will find similar traits in some of the women you worked with, so the “all men are bastards” catch-cry had to be shelved.
It seems you are in the presence of corporate psychopaths, this is called “snakes in suits” by psychologists Robert Hare and Paul Babiak.
According to Hare, one in 100 members of the general population meet the criteria for psychopathy, we are generally led to believe is limited to serial killer types who cannot function in normal society.
The truth is, the signs and symptoms of psychopathy — ruthlessness, fearlessness, charm, persuasiveness, egocentricity, impulsivity, and the absence of conscience and empathy are personality traits like any other found in the Workplace. And like any personality traits, they will present differently in different people and not always to the same degree or in the same combination. To be continued………………………..
