With my little research and conversation with people I discovered that an average Nigerian lady, both married and single does not know what ovulation period is, some don't even know what ovulation looks like. From my little knowledge about ovulation, I decided to put this piece together.

*What is Ovulation?*
Ovulation is a wet, slippery vaginal discharge, it is egg white in colour.
It occurs in a woman's menstrual cycle, when a matured egg is released from an o***y and gets picked up by the fallopian tube and can stay in there for 24 hours or more.

*What is menstrual cycle?*
Menstrual cycle is the period between a woman's last and next menstruation. It is always between 26-35 days, anything outside this, see your doctor.

*How to calculate your ovulation*
To calculate your ovulation, you need to know how to calculate your menstrual cycle first.

Steps to calculating your menstrual cycle:
- Find a calendar
- Circle the first day of your first menstruation, wait till the next menstruation and circle it.
-Count the days from the first day of your last menstrual period to the first day of your next menstrual period.
- Continue this procedure, for three to five cycles, if it doesn't vary, then you have your cycle.

Steps to calculating your ovulation:
- After getting your menstrual cycle
- Divide your cycle by two +- one i.e If your menstrual cycle is 28 days, and your last menstrual period (LMP) is on the 1st, your next period will be on the 28th, 28÷2=14.
When you count 14 days from 1, it is on the 14th.14 +- 1= 13, 14, 15.
-Your fertility period i.e when you tend to conceive is on the 13th.

*Signs of Ovulation*
- You start feeling slight abdominal pain (Not sharp like menstrual cramps)
- You see wet, clear, slippery discharge, egg white in colour on your pant.
- Slight increase in body temperature
- Your s*x hormones start rising, you feel like having s*x.

I hope this helps someone
