When times were tough, where did our ancestors turn? To the earth.. To Anyanwu na Agbala.... To the Deities.. To the cycles that holds us… To the promise of tomorrow.. To the turning wheel… To the circle of community.
Our Ancient Ancestors knew how to navigate times of crises..
They understood survival and they also knew bone-deep how to thrive in the sacred hoop of community wellness.
All were cared for.
* The warriors food and protection..
* The women wove warmth through the heart..
* The medicine men/women provided healing..
* The Dibias facilitated rituals, afa(divination) and oracular arts.
* The elders provided wisdom through the oral traditions...
These ancient ancestors knew their well-being was linked in sacred interdependence with the well-being of Ani and the ecosystem, which is not separate.
In the Ancient times of prehistory that all our ancestry goes back to eventually, tribal consciousness, egalitarianism, and practicing Omenala na Ọdịnani was the order of the day..
Life wasn’t perfect, but there was WISDOM.
During these times, we should be very wise to connect to them and listen deeply for their wisdom.
May Ala-Igbo rise again!
