Life after NICU is not the end of fear.
The day they told her she could finally take her baby home, she smiled and cried at the same time.
She packed the tiny clothes and diapers, held the discharge papers tightly and listened carefully to every instruction from the nurse.
"Feed every three hours.
"Watch the breathing.
"Avoid infection.
"Come for follow-up visits."
Everyone congratulated her.
“Finally, you’re going home.”
“Your baby is strong now.”
“Everything will be fine.”
When she brought her baby home, everyone also celebrated but that night, she barely slept.
No monitors.
No nurses.
Just silence, and constant checking if her baby was breathing.
Every small sound felt like danger. Every quiet moment felt like panic.
This is the silent reality of many NICU parents. They go home with joy but also with fear.
For them, life after NICU is not the end of fear, it is the beginning of healing, strength and hope. 🤍
