The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, has warmly felicitated the Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, describing him as a visionary administrator whose dedication continues to reposition the health sector for excellence and sustainable growth.

Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja Sends Forth Dr. Eze Linus After Meritorious Service

The management and staff of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja have organized a send-forth ceremony in honour of Dr. Eze Linus following his retirement after years of dedicated and meritorious service to the hospital.

The event was attended by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, members of the Top Management Committee, medical doctors, nurses, and other members of staff who gathered to celebrate the retiring medical practitioner for his contributions to healthcare service delivery in the institution.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Folagbade commended Dr. Eze Linus for his commitment and professionalism throughout his years of service. He noted that the retiring doctor played a significant role in supporting the hospital’s mandate of providing quality healthcare to the people.

The Advocacy for Youth Leadership in Governance, Nigeria on Thursday 26th of February, 2026 presented an Award of Excellence to the Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, describing his recent confirmation as substantive CMD as both well-deserved and timely.

The group made the presentation during a courtesy visit to the hospital management, where they commended Dr. Folagbade for his outstanding leadership and administrative capacity since assuming office.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the delegation noted that Dr. Folagbade has demonstrated that young people in positions of leadership possess the competence, vision, and capacity to perform optimally in governance. Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja CMD Receives Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter, Promises Greater Advocacy

The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, has reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing quality healthcare and stronger advocacy for persons living with spinal cord injuries.

This assurance was given on Thursday, 26th February 2025, when the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria Kogi State Chapter ( SCIAN KG) paid a courtesy visit to the management of the hospital.

The delegation was received by the Chief Medical Director alongside members of the hospital’s Top Management Committee. The visit provided an opportunity for a heartfelt engagement between the association and the hospital management, marked by empathy and constructive discussions on the challenges faced by persons living with spinal cord injuries.

Speaking during the visit, members of the association congratulated Dr. Folagbade on his confirmation as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the hospital. They also appealed for enhanced healthcare support for their members, particularly through accessible health insurance schemes.

According to the group, many of their members reside in rural communities where access to healthcare is limited to primary health facilities that may not adequately address the complexities associated with spinal cord injuries. They therefore called for improved access to specialized medical care and insurance coverage that would ease the financial burden of treatment.

Responding, Dr. Folagbade described the visit as an honour and expressed appreciation to the association for the show of solidarity. He noted that as a medical practitioner, he is well aware of the physical, emotional, and financial challenges associated with spinal cord injuries.

The CMD assured the delegation that the hospital has the necessary personnel and facilities to cater for their specialized medical needs and promised that members of the association would always receive quality and compassionate care at the facility.

Dr. Folagbade further pledged to champion advocacy for improved support for persons living with spinal cord injuries. He noted that he would continue to engage government, corporate organisations, and well-meaning individuals to expand insurance coverage that can improve their access to healthcare.

He also encouraged the association to explore existing health insurance initiatives of the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and the immediate past governor Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, particularly the Bello Care Health Insurance Scheme, which he noted could significantly support their members in accessing medical services.

In their remarks, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Adewumi Olukotun, and the Director of Administration, Hajiya Aisha Hussein, encouraged the visitors to remain hopeful while offering prayers for strength and resilience.

As a gesture of goodwill, the management of the hospital presented a gift to the visiting delegation.

Also present at the meeting were the Director of Finance and Accounts, Elder Abraham Oloruntoba, and the Head of Audit, Mallam Aminu, among other members of staff.

The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, on Monday, 23rd February 2025, held a general staff meeting with members of staff following his confirmation as the substantive Chief Medical Director by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The meeting, which took place at the CMD’s Conference Room, brought together members of the hospital management and staff in a moment of appreciation, reflection and renewed commitment to improved healthcare service delivery.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Folagbade returned all glory to God Almighty for the privilege and opportunity given to him to serve the people of Kogi State. He expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ododo for the confidence reposed in him, describing his confirmation as both humbling and motivating.

According to the CMD, the confirmation letter he received from the state government was not only an appointment but also a strong commendation of the collective efforts of the hospital’s management and staff. He disclosed that the letter highlighted key achievements recorded during his eleven months as Acting Chief Medical Director, including improved staff discipline, increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), enhanced dedication to duty and the growing positive public perception of the hospital.

Dr. Folagbade noted that the contents of the letter clearly demonstrate that the Governor is attentive to developments in the health sector and committed to recognizing diligence and impactful leadership.

He also expressed profound appreciation to the Honourable Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, for his consistent guidance, counselling and unwavering support, assuring that the hospital management under his leadership will continue to consolidate on existing gains and further elevate the standard of healthcare delivery in the state.

The CMD further commended members of staff for their cooperation, dedication and professionalism, stressing that the progress recorded so far would not have been possible without their collective support and commitment to the vision of a more efficient and responsive healthcare institution.

In their separate remarks, members of the hospital management and staff expressed strong confidence in the leadership of Dr. Folagbade, noting that his eleven months in acting capacity have brought visible transformation to the hospital. They particularly highlighted improvements in staff welfare, discipline, institutional coordination and the overall quality of healthcare services provided to the public.

Mrs. Abimbola Folagbade, wife of the CMD who attended the meeting with her husband also conveyed appreciation on behalf of her family for the support, goodwill and cooperation extended to her husband since assuming leadership of the hospital.

The meeting concluded with Christian and Muslim prayers offered in gratitude to God for the successful confirmation of the CMD and for the continued growth and stability of the hospital, while special prayers were also offered for Governor Ododo and the peace, unity and progress of Kogi State.

Okun Staff of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Celebrate Dr. Folagbade’s Confirmation, Hail Gov. Ododo

Staff of Okun extraction at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja on Monday, February 23, gathered at the office of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, to celebrate his confirmation as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the hospital and to offer prayers for the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The gathering featured songs of praise to God, as well as both Islamic and Christian prayers, reflecting appreciation for the appointment and confirmation of Dr. Folagbade.

Speaking during the occasion, members of the group described Governor Ododo as a leader with a “heart of gold,” commending him for finding one of the sons of Okun worthy of the position of Chief Medical Director of the hospital. They assured the governor that Dr. Folagbade would justify the confidence reposed in him by delivering optimal service and strengthening healthcare delivery in the institution.

The staff also used the opportunity to appreciate the Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, for his support and contributions toward the growth of Kogi State Specialist Hospital and the entire health sector in the state, praying God to grant him long life, wisdom and continued prosperity in service.
