Amish update :
We are excited that we spent about 3 hours with Our, Amish penpal family yesterday afternoon.

We took them to their families quilting, store, fabric store that had handmade Amish clothes on the rack.

We went to their friends creamery then to a gourmet popcorn store, they gave us samples of birthday, popcorn, and pineapple, popcorn.
Then to a crêpe store. We didn’t even know these places existed.

We got to meet some of the family at some of the stores.

We had our own personal Amish tour guide.

For my Amish penpal’s birthday we gifted her some money and she used that to purchase fabric for a dress she was going to make last night. She said it would take her about one hour to complete.

They picked up some supplies to decorate their friends buggy because she’s going on her first date. That would be today.

Thats what they do on a first date is decorate the buggy.

We took them back home. They showed us their barn where they have some new horses to pull the buggy.

I gifted them a copy of my newest book. 📕

It was a great day and I hope we get to do this again.

We did get a couple of looks and stairs as they were getting in and out of our car.

I couldn’t take pictures of them. I did get the back of the one girl, but I wanted to respect their wishes of not putting their faces in the photos.

I’m so excited and tickled that my Amish pen pal invited us over for her 17th Birthday celebration…..

And get this ……

She asked us if we can take her and her mom into the Amish community and go shopping. 🛒

Of course we said yes!!!!

They call us their English friends…

this will be quite interesting.

I don’t know if some of the younger siblings will go with us or not.

I’m thinking we better take the SUV so we can fit seven passengers…

I love this connection that we have with them and how they feel comfortable with us and we feel comfortable with them coming from two different perspectives and sharing our world together.

I just love learning about them!!

I’ll share with you how it goes!!!

Last year when I went to the Amish girls 16th birthday party, we had the best homemade pretzels wrapped in a hotdog as the Amish family called them. “Dogs in a blanket”.
