TWO QUICK STORIES

While in school, a lecturer told us a story of how he was in a conference where top consultants assumed tablets where made into one large solid dosage form, from where it is cut into tiny fractions as appropriate.

Today, a customer who addressed himself as a co-health professional came with the wife to buy lonart for children. I offered the dispersible tablet but the wife preferred the suspension.

The wife further asked for the difference between the two, as I was about to explain, my 'co-health professional' nabbed and said that the powder for suspension is the tablet crushed into powder which you can then add water to make a suspension. I smiled, he really explained the pharmaceutics very well 🙄

Dear colleagues in the health profession, forget what you have read in Rang and Dale or Katzung, the pharmacist is the medicine expert. The science of drugs is more than just pharmacology.

Thanks for understanding 😊

Though used to treat diarrhea (it hardens the stool), is not for every diarrhea.

Diarrhea that comes with blood or high fever can be a sign of a more serious condition and using Loperamide can cause avoidable complications.

Antibiotic associated diarrhea are expected to resolve on their own after withdrawing the antibiotic involved.
Stomach pain without diarrhea obviously do not require what Loperamide has to offer.
If you notice any of these symptoms, do not use Loperamide, kindly seek medical attention. Ask your .

Still on the episode of "Antibiotic Resistance."

Please don't be like Sabastine.
Be a rational drug user. Handle antibiotics with care.

Seek medical advice; do not take drugs anyhow.
Use drugs, especially ANTIBIOTICS, as directed.

Do not skip your dose. If you forget to take your drug, take as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the usual schedule. Do not take double dose to make up for the missed dose.

ALWAYS complete your dose even if you feel better.

If ever in doubt, ASK YOUR PHARMACIST!!!

Dear Patient,

If you fail to use your drugs as directed, FIVE things are involved:

1. The treatment maybe incomplete, your symptoms may not improve or it may improve then return again.

2. You may develop complications. Diseases are like evil spirit, if you don't cast them out completely, they will destroy your immunity and invite their friends and families into your body.

3. Increased health-care cost. Now you will have to pay more to get better (not good, especially if you are paying out your pocket). Failure to adhere to your medication is a serious problem which not only affects you but also the health-care system.

4. You can develop resistance to the medication, especially antibiotic. You do not want it to get to that stage, RED ZONE.

5. Risk of death. We live in a world where illness is inevitable. In other words, we will always need medication at one point or the other as we grow. If you don't handle these drugs with care and use as directed, they may fail you when you need them most.

HANDLE DRUGS WITH CARE.

Talk to your pharmacist for proper guidance.

Dear Patient,
Yes, catarhh can be very annoying sometimes, nevertheless, antibiotics is not the solution. Nasal discharge does not imply bacterial infection (except if you have another condition). Common cold/catarhh is a viral infection, antibiotics do not treat viral infections. Avoid antibiotics misuse.
Misuse can cause antibiotics to not work for you when you really need them.
Talk to your Pharmacist for proper guidance.
