ASSESS YOUR RISK OF BREAST CANCER🎀
🧬 ⏩Genetic and Family Risk Factors
📍Family history: Having a mother, sister, or daughter with breast cancer increases risk (especially if diagnosed before age 50).
📍Inherited gene mutations: BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53, and PALB2 mutations significantly increase lifetime risk.
Personal history:
📍Previous breast cancer or certain benign breast conditions (like atypical hyperplasia) raise risk.
👩🦰⏩Hormonal and Reproductive Factors
📍Early menstruation (before age 12) or late menopause (after 55) = longer lifetime estrogen exposure.
📍Late first pregnancy (after 30) or never having children slightly increases risk.
📍Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) — especially combined estrogen-progestin use — increases risk.
📍Oral contraceptives — small increased risk, which declines after stopping.
🧠⏩Lifestyle and Environmental Factors
📍Obesity and weight gain after menopause increase estrogen levels and risk.
📍Alcohol use: Even one drink per day increases risk slightly.
📍Physical inactivity and high-fat diets may contribute.
📍Radiation exposure, especially during childhood raises lifetime risk.
🧓⏩Age and Gender
📍Risk increases with age, especially after 35.
📍Women are at far greater risk than men, though male breast cancer does occur (about 1 in 100 cases).
🔬⏩Breast Density
📍Dense breast tissue (as seen on mammogram) makes cancer harder to detect and slightly increases risk.
