GENOTYPE COMPATIBILITY
Genotype can be simply defined as the genetic constitution of an individual organism.
This is different from your phenotype which is a description of your actual physical characteristics. It is imperative to know your genotype before you say “yes” to that handsome guy or to that beautiful lady whom you wish to spend the rest of your life with or if you are in a relationship in which there are chances of conception.

The problem to avoid with genotype compatibility for intending couples is the sickle cell disease (a recessive disorder)--a very serious medical condition with high prevalence rates in Africa south of the Sahara.

Types of Genotype

The genotypes in humans are AA, AS, AC, SS. They refer to the hemoglobin gene constituents on the red blood cells. AC is rare whereas AS and AC are abnormal.
Genotype Compatibility Chart
Study this table below carefully:
AA + AA = AA, AA, AA, AA (Excellent)
AA + AS = AA, AS, AA, AS, (Good)
AA + SS = AS, AS, AS, AS, (Fair)
AA + AC = AA, AA, AA, AC. (Good)
AS + AS = AA, AS, AS, SS, (Very Bad)
AS + SS = AS, SS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)
AS + AC = AA, AC, AS,SS. (Bad; Advice needed)
SS + SS = SS, SS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)
AC + SS = AS, AS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)
AC + AC = AA, AC, AC, SS. ( Bad; Advice needed)

Compatible genotypes for marriage are:
AA marries an AA. That’s the best compatible. That way you save your future children the worry about genotype compatibility.
AA marries an AS. You’ll end up with kids with AA and AS which is good. But sometimes if you’re not lucky all the kids will be AS which limits their choice of partner.
AS and AS should not marry, there is every chance of having a child with SS.
AS and SS shouldn’t think of marrying.
And definitely, SS and SS must not marry since there’s absolutely no chance of escaping having a child with the sickle cell disease.

Solution
The only thing that can change the genotype is the bone marrow transplant (BMT).

Insulin

Insulin is a polypeptide hormone produced by β-cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans. Its biosynthesis involves the production of two inactive precursors preproinsulin and proinsulin, which will be subsequently cleaved to form the active hormone upon a rise in blood glucose levels. Insulin causes glucose uptake in both myocytes and adipocytes and directs these cells to synthesize glycogen, protein, and triacylglycerols. These actions are mediated by insulin’s binding to the α-subunit of the insulin receptor, which produces a cascade of cell-signaling β-subunit of insulin receptor substrate (IRS) proteins.

*ASIDE KNOWING YOUR GENOTYPE BEFORE MARRIAGE THERE'S NEED FOR A WOMAN TO KNOW HER RHESUS FACTOR - RHESUS FACTOR INCOMPATIBILITY IS A LEADING CAUSE OF MISCARRIAGE! NOT ALWAYS YOUR VILLAGE PEOPLE!* PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS:
Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the
surface of red blood cells in most people (about
85% of humans). It is also referred to as Rh
Factor. People who have the Rh have
“positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+
are said to be rhesus Factor positive, while those
who have the Rh “negative” (-) blood types, such
as A–, O– or AB– are said to be rhesus factor
negative . The “+” and “-” after the blood group
is the Rhesus factor. Generally, we have A+, A–,
B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–. Rhesus factor is
genetic in nature. It is inherited from the
parents, emphatically the father.
How does Rhesus Factor cause miscarriage?
If a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with
Rh–, there wouldn’t be any problem. However, if
a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh+,
there would be a problem if the baby inherits Rh+
from the father . We have here what is medically
called Rhesus Factor Incompatibility. The baby
would obviously be Rh+. During child birth, once
the baby’s Rh+ comes in contact with the
woman Rh- during delivery, the antibodies are
immediately activated by the woman’s body’s
immune system.
The activated antibodies would see the new Rh+
as foreign body or a threat and consequently
they would be at alert to attack and get rid of
the foreign body. Unfortunately as such, after
this particular child birth, the woman would keep
having miscarriages because the activated
antibodies would see subsequent Rh+
pregnancies as foreign bodies and would keep
fighting and taking them off.
Women with Rh activated antibodies are said to
be Rh sensitized and once these antibodies are
activated , they can never be deactivated until
the woman dies. Rh induced antibodies are
activated in a Rh- woman by child birth, abortion,
miscarriage and ectopic pregnanc

Nigerian Medical Officers in the USA has sent this through to help each and everyone. Please read and take care of yourself - Dr. Okyere.

The rate at which young people are suffering from Kidney disease is alarming. I am sharing a post which can help us.
Please read below:

IMPORTANT - KIDNEY DESERVES THE BEST.

Barely two (2) days ago, we all received the news of the demise of the Nigerian actor as a result of kidney disease.
ALSO OUR MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS, the Honorable Teko Lake is currently in the Hospital on life support with Kidney problems. I want to show you how to avert this menace of kidney disease.

*SO HERE ARE THE TOP 6 CAUSES OF KIDNEY DISEASE:*

1. Delaying going to a toilet. Keeping your urine in your bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. When nature calls – do it as soon as possible.

2. Eating too much salt. You should eat no more than 5.8 grams of salt daily.

3. Eating too much meat. Too much protein in your diet is harmful for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin that is very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more kidney damage.

4. Drinking too much caffeine. Caffeine is a component of many sodas and soft drinks. It raises your blood pressure and your kidneys start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of coke you drink daily.

5. Not drinking water. Our kidneys should be hydrated properly to perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough, the toxins can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 10 glasses of water daily. There is an easy way to check if you are drinking
enough water.

Retail pharmacies are largely roadside pharmacies people run to when they have a drug need, an ailment, or some other medical need. An average retail pharmacy usually caters to a specific neighbourhood and has a constant recurrent inflow of customers, as long as they mostly always have the drugs requested.
