Complications of uncontrolled Hypertension:
Among other complications, hypertension can cause serious damage to the heart. Excessive pressure can harden arteries, decreasing the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. This elevated pressure and reduced flow can cause:-

- Chest pain, also called angina.
- Heart attack, which occurs when the blood supply to the heart is blocked & heart muscles die from lack of oxygen, the longer the blood flow is blocked the greater the damage to the heart.
- Heart failure, which occurs when the heart cannot pump enough blood and oxygen to other vital body organs.
- Irregular Heartbeat which can lead to sudden death.

Hypertension can also burst or block arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the brain, causing stroke.
In addition, hypertension can cause kidney damage leading to kidney failure.

NOTE: hypertension is very deadly so it's advisable not to fall the victim of it all (lectures on prevention of hypertension coming to you from G&S supplements Villa on 15th of this month).

HYPERTENSION (High blood pressure):
Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood against the walls of the body's arteries, which is the major blood vessels in the body.
Therefore, hypertension is when blood pressure is too high. but blood pressure is written as two numbers, the first (systolic) number represents the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart contracts or beats. The second (diastolic) number represents the pressure in the vessels when the heart rests between beats.

Hypertension is diagnosed if, when it is measured on two different days, the systolic blood pressure reading on both days is ≥140mmHg and/or the diastolic blood pressure readings on both days is ≥90mmHg.

HEALTH LECTURES 🤗-
CHOLESTEROL (continues):
There are little things that can lead to high blood cholesterol (hyperlipidemia) and they includes:-
- Poor diet: consuming foods high in saturated fats, trans fats increases the risk of having high blood cholesterol.

- Being overweight/obesed.
- sedentary lifestyle.
- Hereditary: If your family member have high blood cholesterol, you may also have it.

How to lower/subsidize high cholesterol:-
1. Always consume "Healthier" fats such as mono-unsaturated fats (i.e olive oil, canola oil, nuts like almonds, cashews and avacados).
-Polyunsaturated fats (vegetable oils like soybean oil, sunflower oil, corn oil) and Omega-3 fats (salmon, sardines and mackerel).

2. Choose to consume more of fish, skinless poultry and lean meat when choosing meat, and low fat or fat-free milk products.

3. Consume more fibre-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

4. Exercise regularly: aim to have 30mins of moderate physical activity daily such as brisk walking, cycling or swimming. If you are unable to accommodate a long workout, spread it into smaller sessions throughout the day or week.

5. Maintain a healthy weight.
6. Quit smoking.
7. Limit alcohol intake to no more than one standard drinks.

LECTURES🤗-
CHOLESTEROL:-
Cholesterol is a compound of the sterol type, found in most body tissues,
Then, cholesterol and it's derivates are important constituents of cell membranes and precursors of other steroid compounds. It is also a class of certain organic molecules called Lipids.

NOTE: Steroids are a man-made version of chemicals, known as Hormones, that are made naturally in the human body. Also steroids are designed to act like these hormones in order to reduce inflammation.
Cholesterols are very essential components that helps in building up the body cells. But cholesterol becomes a problem in the body when it is excess.

High blood cholesterol (hyperlipidemia)is a symptomless condition, in that it hardly presents any symptom. The two main types of cholesterol are:-
-LDL (Low density lipoprotein) commonly known as a "bad" carrier of cholesterol to the tissues, including the arteries.

-HDL (High density lipoprotein) known as "good" cholesterol as it takes cholesterol from the tissues to the liver where it can be removed from the body.
Therefore, when it comes to cholesterol the key is to keep LDL cholesterol down while raising HDL cholesterol but accumulation of too much "bad" cholesterol in the body can lead to a build up of plaque in artery walls, there by causing a narrowing and hardening of the blood vessels (atherosclerosis). This increases your likelyhood/risk of developing Heart disease.
