DAY 29- REASONS WHY YOUR PERIOD IS DELAYING.
Your period is not late for no reason, your body is trying to tell you something.
I see this concern almost every day:
My period is delaying, should I be worried?”
The truth is, a delayed period is your body’s way of asking for attention. There’s always an underlying reason and most times, it’s something we can identify and manage.
Stress is one of the most common triggers. When your body is under emotional or physical pressure, your hormones can shift, and ovulation may be delayed or skipped altogether.
Pregnancy is another important possibility to consider, especially if you’re sexually active. It should always be the first thing to rule out.
Hormonal imbalances also play a major role. Conditions like Polycystic O***y Syndrome can interfere with regular ovulation, leading to missed or irregular periods.
I also see delays linked to sudden weight changes. Whether it’s weight loss or gain, your body responds quickly, and your cycle often reflects that change.
Excessive exercise can have a similar effect. When the body is pushed too hard without enough recovery or nutrition, it may temporarily pause your cycle.
Birth control methods can also influence your period, especially when you’re just starting, stopping, or switching between options.
And then there’s nutrition, something many people overlook. Your body needs the right balance of nutrients to maintain a healthy hormonal cycle.
Sometimes, it’s simply your body responding to illness or internal imbalance. When your system is trying to recover, your period may take a back seat.
What I always tell my patients is this:
Your menstrual cycle is one of the clearest reflections of your overall health.
So when it changes, when it delays, don’t ignore it, and don’t panic either. Pay attention, observe your body, and seek guidance when something feels off.
Your body is communicating. The question is, are you listening?
