š PART 1 ā āTHE HEART THAT CHOSE MEā
(Romantic & Emotional Pregnancy Series)
Amara never believed one heart could love her this deeply. Every night, her husband, Chike, would place his ear on her growing belly and whisper, āMy little star, I canāt wait to meet you.ā
Their marriage wasnāt perfect, but their love was real ā soft, patient, and gentle, like the evening breeze. Amara was 6 months pregnant, and every night before they slept, Chike would massage her swollen feet, kiss her forehead, and say, āThank you for carrying our dream.ā
But that night was different.
As the rain whispered against their window, Amara jolted awake from a nightmare. She placed her hands on her tummy ā she couldnāt feel the baby kicking like before. Fear crawled up her chest. Her heart raced.
āChikeā¦ā her voice trembled.
He woke up immediately. āAmara, talk to me⦠whatās wrong?ā
āI canāt feel her⦠she hasnāt kicked. Chike, Iām scared.ā Tears gathered in her eyes.
Chike held her hands, trying to stay strong, even though fear was eating him inside. He laid his palm on her stomach ā silence. He pressed his ear ā nothing. The room suddenly felt colder.
āItās going to be okay,ā he whispered, but his voice was shaking.
Without wasting a second, he grabbed his keys and wrapped her in his jacket. As they rushed into the night, Amara kept crying, āChike, what if something happens to our baby?ā
He stopped, cupped her face, looked into her eyes, and said in a firm, breaking voice:
āNothing will happen to our child. I will not let anything take away our miracle. Not now⦠not ever.ā
They sped through the empty streets to the hospital. Amaraās heart pounded, her tears falling uncontrollably. Chike held her hand tightly the whole ride, kissing it over and over, praying under his breath.
When they finally arrived, the nurses rushed her in for an emergency check. Chike was asked to stay outside.
Those minutes felt like a lifetime.
He paced the hallway, praying, shaking, remembering how they prayed for this baby⦠how they chose her name even before she was conceived⦠how he would sing to her every night. He couldnāt lose her. Not after everything.
Finally, the doctor stepped outā¦
Chike ran to him. āDoctor, please⦠my wife⦠my baby⦠tell me something.ā
The doctor took a slow breath, placed a hand on his shoulder and said,
āWe need you to be strong for what Iām about to say.ā
Chike felt his knees weaken.

⨠Moral of Part 1:
When love is real, fear becomes a fight, not an exit.
āTrue love isnāt proven in sweet moments, but in the nights when fear tries to steal your joy.ā
