💥️ What causes Cervical cancer?
The exact cause is not known however a virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is known to play a role when it comes to this. This virus is Sexually transmitted.

💥What puts you at risk of having cervical cancer:
🔸️️Having s*x before you turn 20
🔸️Having had multiple s*xual partners ( 6+) in life or living with a man who sleeps around with many.
🔸️Having a s*xually transmitted infection eg syphilis, chlamydia.
🔸️Using oral contraceptives
🔸️Having many children (usually 7+). You are at a lower risk if you have ever had children as compared to someone who never has.
🔸️Having any diseases or condition or using any medication that reduces your body's ability to fight diseases eg HIV or undergoing chemotherapy
🔸️Smoking or being obese

The Pap smear test
This is a test that is used in checking for cervical cancer in women.

💥 How do I prepare for my test ?
🔸️Abstain from s*x at least 24-48 hours before test
🔸️Dont do**he. Never do**he even if you're not going for a pap smear
🔸️Dont use any spermicides or va**nal creams or put anything in the va**na 24- 48 hours before test

❗Pap smears are usually planned such that you would not be menstruating by the time procedure is done. If you however happen to be menstruating during this time and its impossible to get a new appointment, you can still take the test.

💥 How is it done ?
Your doctor uses an instrument to keep your va**na open and takes samples from your cervix ( from the outer surface and from the opening through which blood flows out during me**es)

💥 What happens to the cell samples taken?
It is sent to the lab for testing. These cells will show us if you have cervical cancer , the type of cervical cancer you have, if you are likely to have cervical cancer or if everything is ok.

💥 What are the symptoms of cervical cancer:
Lots of people do not have any symptoms. It is found out by chance. Those who have symptoms do have the following:
🔸️a watery, blood like va**nal discharge. This can be smelly sometimes
🔸️va**nal bleeding after s*x or douching that happens from time to time ( dont do**he)
🔸️Pain in the pelvis or pain during s*x
🔸️If cancer blocks the pathway of urine transport from the kidneys to the bladder, they might have pain in the back
🔸️ Other symptoms usually depend on how much the cancer has spread eg severe back pain, blood in urine, etc

💥️Does cervical cancer kill?
Yes it does if not diagnosed and treated in time.

💥How can I prevent cervical cancer?
🔸️Get screened regularly
🔸️Get vaccinated if you're 26 yrs or below and not Sexually active ( most effective if you are not s*xually active )
🔸️Dont smoke
🔸️Practice safe s*x. Use a condom. Stick to fewer s*xual partners.

❗ Any obgyn should be able to perform a pap smear for you.Haven't done one yet ? Make sure you do.

You can protect yourself from HIV by:
-Not engaging in casual s*x,

-Being faithful to your partner and being honest about your s*xual history. If you are both unsure of your HIV status, do go for HIV screening

-Practising safer s*x with a condom, especially if you have multiple s*x partners
always remembering to use a new latex condom during each s*xual in*******se, and following the manufacturer's instructions. While not 100% safe, they provide at least 90% protection from HIV.

-Avoiding the consumption of alcohol and drugs as these can affect your judgment, causing you to engage in risky s*xual behaviour. Using only clean, sterile needles and choosing a reliable service provider when getting a piercing, tattoo or an injection
accepting only HIV-screened blood for blood transfusions. Asking your doctor about preventive medicines

Can One Get HIV From Breast Milk?

The question of whether you can get HIV by sucking someone’s ni***es is an important one. It gets even more interesting when you add lactation into the mix.

While there are a host of myths around the ways HIV is spread, it is true that breast milk is one of the few bodily fluids in which potentially infectious levels of HIV can actually exist.

For fetuses and newborns, exposure to HIV is possible during pregnancy, delivery, or shortly after birth by consuming breast milk from a lactating HIV-positive person. This can happen because the not-yet-developed immune system of a baby makes them more susceptible to infection

For adults who are interacting with a person’s breasts, the situation is very different from that of fetuses and babies.

For adults, it’s important to remember that HIV “is transmitted by the passage of the virus from one person to another by having the virus come in contact with the blood of another,”

“The virus enters the body through any opening of the skin or mucous membranes—often through an unseen and unknown tear in the va**na or anus—and through cuts, punctures, or wounds.”

People have nothing to worry about when it comes to HIV transmission through breast milk.

“You cannot get HIV from sucking [the] ni***es of a lactating mother, because the amount of HIV from the milk is not significant enough to be an infection in adults even if you have broken mucous membranes in your mouth linings.

However, one circumstance that may make HIV transmission more likely is if there are open sores or wounds directly on a person’s ni***es. “If the ni***es are damaged from extreme [kink] play leading to cuts, you may be at greater risk of spreading HIV.

If you are worried you may have been exposed to HIV after lactation play, it’s OK to get an HIV test and consult your health care provider. It’s highly unlikely you’ve contracted HIV in this way, but your peace of mind matters.

Lecture 1 on Diabetes Melitus

When you hear the word “diabetes,” your first thought is likely about someone having too much sugar in the blood.

Most people find it difficult to understand how the Blood sugar affects human health.

Without much grammar, just know that the body has a normal range for blood glucose, and when the blood glucose goes out of balance, very high, over a long period of time, it could develop into what everyone knows to be diabetes.

Diabetes is a Greek word meaning "to pass through"

You may ask yourself, what is one actually passing through???

The person with diabetes is passing out sugar (glucose) in urine, and that is abnormal.

Because sugar is sweet, it's assumed that the urine of such a person would be sweet, and that's where the additional terminology called "Melitus" comes in.

Melitus is a Greek word that means Sweet.

Therefore in so many Medical books, we don't just mention Diabetes; we complete it's name as Diabetes Melitus, which is often abbreviated as DM.

In our subsequent lecture series on Diabetes Melitus, I am going to explain more and more, till we get to it's prevention and treatment.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
