The Difference Between JAMB e-PIN and Profile Code....
Many students mix these two up, and that confusion alone has caused a lot of problem.
1. JAMB Profile Code: Who You Are in JAMB System. Your profile code is like your identity in JAMB’s system.
It belongs to you.
Before JAMB can recognise you as a candidate, you must create a profile code. When you send your details to JAMB (usually through SMS), JAMB generates a profile code for you.
This profile code identifies you as a candidate, carries your personal details, stays with you throughout the whole JAMB process.
Once you create it, you don’t create another one every year unless there is a serious issue.
So think of profile code as your name in JAMB’s record book.
2. JAMB e-PIN — What Allows You to Register.
Now, e-PIN is different.
e-PIN is not about who you are.
It is about payment.
JAMB e-PIN is the code that shows that you have paid for JAMB registration. Without it, registration cannot happen.
So even if JAMB knows you through your profile code, if you don’t have e-PIN, you cannot register.
Think of e-PIN as the permission slip that allows registration.
3. How They Work Together....
This is where many students get confused.
Your profile code comes first.
Your e-PIN comes after.
First, JAMB identifies you using your profile code
Then, you buy e-PIN to show payment
Finally, both are used together at the CBT centre to register you.
One cannot replace the other.
Let me give you Simple Example You will Remember....
Your profile code is your name on the class register.
Your e-PIN is your school fees receipt.
Your name can be on the register, but without school fees receipt, you won’t be allowed into class.
Both are important, but they are not the same thing.
Always create your profile code first.
Then, buy your e-PIN.
If you understand this difference, you have already avoided one of the biggest JAMB mistakes.......................
