✨ Red Cross on the street is Red Cross at the heart of humanity.

Exactly four months ago, the Southwest Zonal Youth Wing of the Nigerian Red Cross Society took a bold step; stepping out into the streets of Osogbo, Osun State, not just to be seen, but to serve. 🙌

🚨 The “First Aid on the Street” Project was more than an outreach it was a message: that every life matters, and that emergency care begins with awareness.

We met people where they were in Alekuwodo Market and Old Garage Park, teaching first aid, empowering bystanders, and planting seeds of resilience.

🎯 Impact Highlights:

👥 500+ people reached — market women, bus drivers, commuters, youth

🧠 Taught basic first aid techniques people can apply in real-life crises

🤝 Strengthened ties with the community and increased visibility for NRCS

💬 Sparked life-changing conversations about preparedness and humanity

As Youth Wing executives from all six Southwest states stood side-by-side, the atmosphere was clear: unity in service, and purpose in action.

It wasn’t just an event,
It was a spark, and for some, a turning point.

*South West Zonal Youth Wing embarked on "First Aid on the Street" Project*

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) South West Zonal Youth Wing successfully carried out a community-based project, "First Aid on the Street," in Osogbo, Osun State as part of the activities for the 2025 First Quarter meeting.

The project aimed to promote First Aid Awareness and provide emergency response training to the public.

*Objectives*
1. Educate the public on basic first aid techniques.
2. Provide emergency response training to community members.
3. Promote the importance of first aid in saving lives.

The project was carried out in two major locations in Osogbo namely Alekuwodo Market and Old Garage Park.The program has in attendance Youth Wing Excos from the 6 States in the South West Zone
Key Outcome of the project includes

1. *Reached Over 500 Community Members*: Engaged with market traders, commuters, drivers, and residents.
2. *Increased Awareness*: Raised awareness on the importance of first aid in saving lives.
3. *Community Engagement*: Fostered partnerships with local stakeholders.
4. Increased the visibility of the Society

The "First Aid on the Street" project demonstrated the NRCS's commitment to promoting community resilience and saving lives. The project's success highlights the importance of community-based initiatives in promoting first aid awareness and emergency response training.

*Advocacy Visit to Osun State Commissioner for Youth Affiairs*

The National and South West Zonal Youth Wing of the Nigerian Red Cross Society paid an Advocacy Visit to the Commissioner for Youth Affiairs Hon. Moshood Olagunju Olalekan.

The Commissioner ably represented by Hon Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi, the Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Affairs Osun State, warmly received the Red Cross National and South West Youth Wing in his office. With open arms, the SA Youth Affairs welcomed the Red Cross Executives to Osun State.

He expressed his deepest gratitude for the visit, he acknowledged the role of Red Cross in Youth Development and promised to extend undiluted support and solidarity to the Organization.

The Permanent Secretary also welcomed the team to Osun State and also promised the ministry's support for the Society.

The Red Cross team conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the S.A for his exceptional hospitality and generous gestures. They seek for more areas of collaborations so as to play the Auxiliary role the Society is known for.

The visitation is part of the activities for the 1st quarter meeting which is hosted by Osun Branch Youth Wing.
