LONG TIME NO POST !!

She Thought It Was Just “Cold” – Until She Collapsed and Started Vomiting Blood

Yesterday, one of our female patients opened her eyes for the first time in days—and the story she shared left everyone shocked.

According to her, it all started with serious stomach pain and sharp discomfort at her side. Instead of coming to the hospital, she went to a small side lab nearby. After a few minutes of "check-up", they told her confidently:

“Madam, it’s just cold. You’ll be fine.”

They gave her multiple injections of Ceftriaxone (almost a full carton!), added some “cold” drugs, and told her to be massaging her side with hot water. Later, they checked her blood pressure and said it was low, so they advised her to drink Hero beer mixed with salt to “bring it up.”

Sadly, what she actually had was a serious peptic ulcer and worsening gastritis. The hot water massage, beer, salt, and overdose of antibiotics only made it worse.

In no time, she began to vomit blood, became extremely weak, and collapsed. Her family rushed her to our hospital unconscious.

It took days of emergency care, IV fluids, blood transfusion, and close monitoring to stabilize her. Today, she finally woke up—and that’s when we heard the full journey of how her “cold” was handled.

Everyone was speechless.

Ceftriaxone abuse? Beer and salt for ulcer? Hot water on internal bleeding?

This is not just ignorance—it is dangerous and deadly. She almost died because of wrong treatment.

We are grateful to God that she is alive today. It could have been a different story.

Dear friends, please never joke with your health. Don’t treat serious symptoms at chemists or unlicensed places. Don’t let a “cold” turn into a coma. Come to a hospital, do proper tests, and let qualified professionals treat you. Reach out to a physician or a pharmacist closest to you.

Let’s share this story so others can learn and be saved.

Did You Know?
📌 Flagyl (Metronidazole) is not a one-dose cure for diarrhea.

Flagyl is not used for stopping your diarrhea. It is an antimicrobial drug for treatment of bacterial infections and constant abuse causes very serious side effects.

We hear that people now take Flagyl with them to parties so they can overeat and use it to stop diarrhoea...Please stop it!

Flagyl is one of the most abused medication in Nigeria. People use it for all sorts of things especially for stopping diarrhea instantly. We see it all the time, people get one dose, take it once or twice to stop diarrhea. If they are feeling adventurous, they add one dose of Tetracycline to combine... rinse and repeat. 😭😭

Many are fortunate to get away with it because the diarrhea they had would have resolved anyway. Some take the drug around in their purses and handbags and use whenever. 😭

It is not an anti-diarrhoeal agent, this means that it was not formulated to be used to treat diarrhea but it is an effective antibiotic used in the treatment of some types of diarrhea that may be caused by gram negative bacteria.

Flagyl is used to treat many common issues like:

-Certain va**nal infections

-Bacterial stomach or intestinal infections

- Pelvic inflammatory diseases

-Trichomoniasis (sexually transmitted infection due to a parasite).

When it is prescribed, it's duration is usually for between 5 -10days; not just once! And what's worse, constant abuse can create resistance - a situation where the drug doesnt work when needed.

Abuse of Flagyl can also cause :
•yeast infections,
•low white blood cell count,
• inflammed pancreas and so on.

So, stop taking Flagyl as an ANTI DIARRHOEA MEDICATION

Stopiittt!!

Some reasons why your hormones are imbalanced:

1) You are still using plastic as your food storage can. Some plastics contains chemical like Bisphenol A which is known to be endocrine disruptor. They mimic our body natural hormonal and this can lead to hormonal imbalance in the body. They also go as far as blocking hormones receptors in the body.

2) You need to detox and get rid of heavy metals. Most of the things we eat and inhale is filled with endocrine disruptor. The entire body system heavily messed up. You need to detox heavy metals before starting any hormonal regulation treatment.

3) You are detoxing the wrong way. Most people do not know how to juice. You don't combine all green vegetables and say you are detoxing. Some are so rich in anti nutrients and they end up disrupting all the nutrients your body needs for a well balanced hormones

4. You still use heavily scented creams, soaps, candles, Make up, pad etc. Tone it down sis, most are endocrine disruptors.

5) You are not eating well and sleeping well. You need at least 8 hours sleep a day!!!

6. You need to ditch all canned and heavily processed meal. You need to stop all meals that contains preservatives.

Be intentional about your health.

NSAIDs AND SEVERE MENSTRUAL PAINS

As a lady, take your time and go through this.

Between the space of July 30th-Sept 2nd, I clerked eleven ladies in my Premise who had Chief complaint of severe and excruciating dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain).

After clerking them, I was sceptical to give seven of them the usual pain reliever- NSAID ( e.g. Piroxicam (Felvin).

Why? I suspected another underlying cause and then referred them for laboratory investigations.

When the result was out, my fears were actually true.

Five of them had endometriosis, while two of them had ulcer, and I'll explain the implications.

On average, every 28 days, a healthy female from menarche to before-menopause will menstruate, whether or not an ovulation occurs. This menstruation simply serves to get the thickened endometrial lining (upper part of the inner surface of the womb) out of the womb. The womb will contract to expel this debris out through the va**na, and this contraction causes the cramping pain ladies feel as menstrual pain.

However, a situation occurs where some debris, instead of coming out through the va**na, returns to the body of the woman (the visceral cavity) through the fallopian tube. This debris can then attach to any visceral organ in the woman's body and start growing~ This is medically called endometriosis (the growth of endometrial materials in the body other than the womb)

The interesting thing here is that in the next cycle, this new growth will start responding to the hormones produced in ladies during cycles (progesterone and estrogen), making it proliferate.

This proliferation comes with an intense pain that ladies always confuse with menstrual cramps.

Whenever you feel a deep pain other than cramp pain, you should better see your health care provider. Don't just swallow Felvin and other nsaids rascally.

Endometriosis comes with a deep pain that usually starts FEW DAYS before menstruation (blood flow, spotting) and continues after menstruation.

This pain is always at the waist and radiates to the back.

Menstrual cramps, on the other hand, start only FEW HOURS before spotting and stops after menstruation.

It's noteworthy that some diseases such as Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases (PID) and peptic ulcers(PU) could also mimic this pain.

Though that of the PID is independent of cycle, while PU is not only independent of cycle but often involves the epigastrium and chest and always radiates to the back.

This emphasizes the need for you to see your health care provider once you notice persistent pain, other than mere cramp. Don't just rush Felvin and other NSAIDs. They could actually worsen your situation.
