ODORBN INDUCTS CLASS OF 2023 DOCTORS OF OPTOMETRY INTO THE PROFESSION- IGWE BERNADINE EMERGES BEST GRADUATING STUDENT RECEIVING MULTIPLE AWARDS
On 27th August 2024, the induction/Oath-taking ceremony of Class of 2023 graduates of Optometry took place at Imo State University Auditorium.
The epock-making event had in attendance, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze (SAN) ably represented by the Deputy Vice-chancellor Academics, Rev'D Chigbo Ajero, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Rev Fr. Prof Philip Ogbonna, Provost College of Medicine and Health sciences, Prof. Jude Egwurugwu, Deputy Provost College of Medicine, Prof. J. N. B Nnadozie, The Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Mrs Asinobi. C, The Registrar ODORBN, Dr Obinna Awiaka, NOA President, Dr Anderson Chimezirim, HOD Department of Optometry, Dr Magnus Nsonwu and other principal officers, lecturers and officials of Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA).
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Rev'd C. N. U Ajero who represented the Vice Chancellor welcome d ODORBN and the esteemed guests to Imo State University. In his address, he charged the inductees to be great ambassadors of excellence and to practice meticulously within the tenets of the profession.
The ODORBN Registrar, Dr Obinna Awiaka during his speech charged the inductees to be dedicated, compassionate and committed Doctors with respect to the profession. He further elucidated that patient care and well-being should come first before monetary gains. He advised them to maintain the highest level of professionalism, ethics and provide adequate eye and vision care to their patients.
The Registrar/CEO ODORBN administered the Hippocratic Oath which was sworn by Class of 2023 Doctors of Optometry. Shortly after the Oath-taking, the President of NOA Imo State Chapter under the chairmanship of Dr Ginika donated an optical instrument to Imo State University eye clinic for the training of her clinical students.
On the course of the induction ceremony, several merit awards were presented to some of the inductees by the NOA, Dr Ogor Emmanuel, Best clinician, Dr Emerenwa Wisdom, Leadership award as the 15th IMSU President of NOSA, Dr Akano Divine E, Leadership Award as the 14th National President of NOSA.
Dr Igwe Bernadine emerged the best graduating student (BGS) Class of 2023 Doctors of Optometry. She also bagged several awards which also came with a cash prize attached.
