He is the Fifth. He is Perfection.

On Wednesday, the 11th of February, 2026, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti experienced a transition in leadership. From a man who has done so well to a man who promises to do even more.

After five years of active service and dedication to FUOYE, the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Sunday, passed on the mantle of leadership to the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole — a man of intellect and vision.

Dear Prof., as you take the wheel of this great institution, we, the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, congratulate you on this remarkable achievement. We unanimously pray and hope that you will steer us toward even more beautiful and prosperous days ahead.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Prof. Abayomi Fasina Sunday

As part of the sacred rite of passage into a new phase of leadership, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti held her first valedictory lecture and service in honour of her former Vice-Chancellor on the 5th and 6th of February, 2026.

It was indeed a remarkable occasion, as the former VC, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Sunday, proudly reflected on the achievements and milestones recorded during his administration — most notably his renowned 20-Point Agenda of outstanding greatness, which helped shape the growth and identity of FUOYE.

On that memorable day, the students, staff, and executives of the Faculty of Pharmacy were fully represented, cheering and celebrating a leader whose impact will remain etched in the history of the institution.

Dear Fasina, our father, we deeply appreciate your love, kindness, commitment, and enthusiasm toward the betterment of FUOYE and her 50k+ students. Your legacy speaks loudly, and your footprints will not be forgotten.

Greatness Recognizes Greatness

It is with joy and pride that The PHOENIX announces the recognition of intellect bestowed on our very own distinguished lecturer, Dr. Olakojo Oluwatobi, the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, FUOYE.

Dr. Tobi is widely respected for his engaging teaching style and his consistent contributions to scientific research. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see such a brilliant academic recognized by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

We sincerely appreciate the Vice-Chancellor for this recognition and express our profound gratitude to Dr. Tobi for his outstanding service to the faculty and its students. It is our hope and belief that the faculty will continue to grow and flourish.

Today we're called to join in the celebrations and share in the happiness of our outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Sunday, as he gives his Valedictory Lecture.
