Day 3 of Ramadan – Nafl (Voluntary) Prayers & Reflections
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem
As we embrace the third day of Ramadan, let us take a moment to reflect on the mercy of Allah (SWT) and increase our voluntary (Nafl) acts of worship.
Recommended Nafl Prayers for Day 3:
1. Salatul Duha (For Sustenance & Barakah)
This prayer, also called Ishraq or Chasht, is performed after sunrise (about 15-20 minutes after) and consists of 2 to 12 raka’ats.
The Prophet (SAW) said:
"In the morning, charity is due on every joint of the body of everyone of you. Every Tasbih is a charity… and two raka’ats which one may pray in the forenoon will suffice." (Muslim)
2. Salatul Tahajjud (For Forgiveness & Closeness to Allah)
Performed in the last third of the night before Fajr.
It is highly recommended as a means of seeking Allah’s mercy, guidance, and forgiveness.
3. Salatul Awwabin (For Repentance & Good Deeds Multiplied)
This is prayed after Maghrib (between 2-6 raka’ats).
It is a special prayer for those who frequently repent and seek Allah’s nearness.
Dua for Day 3:
"Allahumma arzuqni at-taqwa wal-'afwa wal-'afiyah, waj'alni min al-muhsineen."
(O Allah, grant me piety, forgiveness, and well-being, and make me among the righteous.)
Reflections for the Day:
Increase in Istighfar (seeking forgiveness).
Give in charity, no matter how small.
Reflect on Surat Al-Imran (3:133-136) about striving for Jannah through good deeds and patience.
May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts, prayers, and acts of worship, and may He make us among the righteous. Ameen.
Ramadan Mubarak!
