One baby item that is a complete waste of money for many parents… newborn baby shoes. 👶👟

Since newborn babies don’t walk yet, shoes are mostly for fashion. Soft socks are usually enough to keep their little feet warm.

Signs Labour May Be Approaching 🤰⏳

As the due date gets closer, many pregnant mothers begin to wonder:

“How will I know when labour is near?”

While every pregnancy is different, the body often gives clear signals that birth may be approaching.

Here are some common signs many women experience before labour begins:

1️⃣ Baby Drops Lower

You may notice the baby settling deeper into the pelvis.
This can make breathing easier but may increase pressure in the lower abdomen.

2️⃣ More Frequent Braxton Hicks Contractions

Practice contractions may become stronger or more regular as the body prepares for labour.

3️⃣ Back Pain or Pelvic Pressure

Some women experience persistent lower back pain or a heavy feeling in the pelvis.

4️⃣ Cervix Begins to Open

During late pregnancy checkups, healthcare providers may notice the cervix starting to soften, thin, or open slightly.

5️⃣ The “Bloody Show”

A small amount of pink or brown mucus may appear as the cervix begins to change.

6️⃣ Water May Break

The amniotic sac may rupture, causing a sudden gush or slow leaking of fluid.

7️⃣ Regular Contractions Begin

True labour contractions gradually become stronger, longer, and closer together.

💡 Important Reminder

Not all women experience every sign.
If you notice regular painful contractions, leaking fluid, or reduced baby movement, contact your healthcare provider or go to the hospital.

Your body is preparing for one of the most powerful moments of motherhood.

Why Health Professionals Suggest Sleeping on the Left Side During Pregnancy 🤰💤

During antenatal visits, many pregnant women hear this advice:

“Try to sleep on your left side.”

But some mothers wonder why this position is recommended.

The reason is connected to blood circulation and comfort during pregnancy.

When a pregnant woman lies on her left side, it helps the body circulate blood more effectively between the mother, the placenta, and the baby.

Here are some benefits of sleeping on the left side during pregnancy:

• It supports better blood flow to the placenta
• It allows the baby to receive oxygen and nutrients more easily
• It reduces pressure on organs such as the liver
• It helps the kidneys remove waste and excess fluid from the body
• It may help reduce swelling in the legs and feet
• It can make breathing and resting more comfortable

As pregnancy progresses and the baby grows, lying flat on the back for long periods may place pressure on major blood vessels in the abdomen. For some women, this can cause dizziness, discomfort, or back pain.

That is why many health professionals suggest side sleeping, especially the left side, during pregnancy.

💡 Helpful comfort tip

You can place a pillow:

• Between your knees
• Under your belly
• Behind your back

This provides support and helps maintain a comfortable sleeping position throughout the night.

Pregnancy brings many physical changes, and small adjustments like sleeping position can support the health of both mother and baby.
