Ghana Announces Free Visa Entry for All Africans from May 2026.

Ghana will introduce a free visa policy for all African travelers starting May 25, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening unity across the continent and removing travel barriers.

President John Mahama made the announcement on Thursday during bilateral talks with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at Peduase Lodge.

He said the policy will take effect on Africa Day, allowing Africans to obtain e-visas online at no cost when traveling to Ghana. The initiative is expected to promote regional integration and ease movement across African countries.

HEALTHCARE NEWS FROM NIGERIA ( WEST AFRICA )

NON-PHYSICIAN HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS PROTEST AGAINST THE COUNTRY'S PHYSICIANS ' UNHEALTHY SPONSOR OF DANGEROUS & SELFISH BILLS IN THE SECTOR AT THE DETRIMENT OF HEALTH OF NIGERIANS

Yes, this is a video of non-physician healthcare providers in Nigeria under an umbrella name JOHESU as
currently protesting against the Health Sector Executive Bills 2026 (also referred to as the Health Sector Regulatory Bill or HB:2701)

The protests, which began in late March 2026, are led by the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations (AHPA).

Key Reasons for the Protests include:
that Healthcare workers, including pharmacists, nurses , medical laboratory scientists, and physiotherapists, oppose the bill for the following reasons:
Centralized Control:
Protesters claim the bill seeks to place all medical and allied health professions under the authority of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Erosion of Independence:
They argue the move would undermine the autonomy of existing professional regulatory bodies, such as those for nurses and pharmacists.
Professional Subordination: Union leaders have voiced concerns that the legislation would make non-physician professionals "second-class" to physicians ( a.k.a medical doctors ).
Regulatory Disruption:
Associations like the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) have warned that the bill could destabilize the healthcare system and compromise patient safety.

Demonstrators have converged at the Unity Fountain in Abuja - Nigeria, and marched to the National Assembly Complex to present petitions to lawmakers.
Demands for Suspension: Professional groups are calling for an immediate suspension of legislative action on the bill to allow for broader stakeholder consultations.
Threat of Further Action: Unions have warned of potential nationwide strikes and "political action" if their grievances are not addressed.

However, the big question remains that if modern healthcare is not indigenous to Africa,
Is medical hegemony ( undemocratic leadership of healthcare systems by physicians possibly via unpopular laws) the practice in countries with better health indices across the globe currently?
Why should some healthcare professionals find ceaseless joy in promoting rivalry in their country's health sector instead of concentrating on modern methods of Clinical Governance as seen in advanced nations which produces the best care possible for their people?
For instance, if healthcare administrators are usually the leaders of healthcare systems around the world, why shouldn't African nations follow suit to create better healthcare systems, instead of their leaders always travelling to seek better healthcare abroad?
As Africa's healthcare professionals, if we do not know what obtains in advanced nations like the UK, US, Canada etc, then we ought to find out except if we are happy to be seen as mischievous. Are there professional bodies regulatory autonomy in places with better health indices?

All African Countries should endeavor to put an end to such proposals for highly embarrassing practices ( bills ) in the best interest of patients. Both physician and non physician healthcare providers must be seen as a great example of a team instead of people that are at war.
Nigeria appears to be the country with the greatest form of rivalry among healthcare workers in the world and this is bad for the continent as it is also Africa's most populous nations, and ranks among those with the poorest healthcare indices in the world.
May Africa get it right.

SPECIAL CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS

The African Society of Clinical Pharmacists (ASOCLIP) is filled with pride at what we have achieved together with our collaborators - the Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (CPAN) and the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP) over the 3 - day Online International Certificate Course in Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship which ended today March 27th, 2026.

To us it was a collaborative gathering of a global community of members of the professions of Pharmacy, Nursing and Medicine as well as some other sister healthcare professionals.
We wish to celebrate this international cm interprofessional collaboration which has empowered our participants to tackle one of the world's topmost health threats known as Infectious diseases ( ID ) & Antimicrobial resistance ( AMR ).

We acknowledge the diverse nature of the participants drawn from different countries including Ghana, Republic of Niger, Togolese Republic, The Gambia, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the UK and India.
We acknowledge some Africans in some other continents such as China (Asia) who joined us.

We acknowledge that some of our members from the Francophone Countries who do not understand English could not join us due to language barrier, but we hope to overcome this type of challenge in the near future by employing audio translators during similar engagements.

ASOCLIP acknowledges the multidisciplinary team of both participants and facilitators including those of Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Psychology professions etc.

Our Society wishes to encourage all those who have been trained to take their new skills back to their respective countries, facilities or work places and act as advocates for change against the menace of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance across borders.

We owe all the collaborators, organizers, facilitators and participants a bunch of thanks - without your immeasurable inputs and participation, this idea would have been a nulity.

La Société africaine des pharmaciens cliniques (ASOCLIP) est fière de ce que nous avons accompli avec nos collaborateurs - l'Association des pharmaciennes cliniques du Nigéria (CPAN) et le Collège postdoctoral des pharmaceutiques d'Afrique de l'Ouest (WAPCP) au cours du cours international de certificat en ligne de 3 jours sur les maladies infectieuses et la gestion antimicrobienne, qui s'est terminé aujourd'hui le 27 mars 2026.

Pour nous, il s'agissait d'un rassemblement collaboratif d'une communauté mondiale de membres des professions de la pharmacie, des soins infirmiers et de la médecine, ainsi que de quelques autres professionnels de la santé sœurs.
Nous souhaitons célébrer cette collaboration internationale et interprofessionnelle qui a permis à nos participants de s'attaquer à l'une des plus grandes menaces pour la santé au monde, connue sous le nom de maladies infectieuses (MR) et résistance aux antimicrobiens (AMR).

Nous reconnaissons la diversité des participants venus de différents pays, notamment le Ghana, la République du Niger, la République togolaise, la Gambie, le Libéria, le Nigéria, la Sierra Leone, le Royaume-Uni et l'Inde.
Nous remercions certains Africains de certains autres continents comme la Chine (Asie) qui nous ont rejoints.

Nous reconnaissons que certains de nos membres des pays francophones qui ne comprennent pas l'anglais n'ont pas pu nous rejoindre en raison d'une barrière linguistique, mais nous espérons surmonter ce type de défi dans un avenir proche en employant des traducteurs audio lors d'engagements similaires.

ASOCLIP reconnaît l'équipe multidisciplinaire des participants et des facilitateurs, y compris ceux des professions de pharmacie, d'infirmière, de médecine, de laboratoire médical, de psychologie clinique, etc.

Notre société souhaite encourager tous ceux qui ont été formés à transmettre leurs nouvelles compétences dans leur pays, leurs installations ou leur lieu de travail et à agir comme défenseurs du changement contre la menace des maladies infectieuses et de la résistance aux antimicrobiens au-delà des frontières.

In this model of healthcare, the pharmacist works as a key member of a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized care plans, focusing on both the medication product and the patient’s health goals.

According to an article by Dr Opeoluwa Onamonbola Saka , as published on the platform of African Society of Clinical Pharmacists (ASOCLIP) Continental Forum :
Pharmaceutical Care Outreach is a community-based extension of pharmacy services where pharmacists go beyond the hospital or pharmacy premises to deliver patient-centered care directly to the public, especially underserved populations.
🔹 What it means in practice
It involves applying the principles of pharmaceutical care (ensuring optimal medication use and improving patient outcomes) outside the traditional pharmacy setting—such as in rural areas, markets, schools, churches, or workplaces.

LA OUTREACH DES SOINS DE SANTÉ EST SIMILAIRE MAIS DIFFÉRENTE DES AUTRES TYPES DE OUTREACHS DES SOINS de santé

Dans ce modèle de soins de santé, le pharmacien travaille comme membre clé d'une équipe multidisciplinaire pour fournir des plans de soins individualisés, en se concentrant à la fois sur le produit médicamenteux et sur les objectifs de santé du patient.

Selon un article du Dr Opeoluwa Onamonbola Saka, publié sur la plateforme du Forum continental de la Société africaine des pharmaciens cliniques (ASOCLIP):
Pharmaceutical Care Outreach est une extension communautaire des services de pharmacie dans laquelle les pharmaciens vont au-delà des locaux de l'hôpital ou de la pharmacie pour fournir des soins centrés sur le patient directement au public, en particulier aux populations mal desservies.
🔹 Ce que cela signifie dans la pratique
Il s'agit d'appliquer les principes des soins pharmaceutiques (assurer une utilisation optimale des médicaments et améliorer les résultats pour les patients) en dehors du cadre pharmaceutique traditionnel, comme dans les zones rurales, les marchés, les écoles, les églises ou les lieux de travail.

Promouvoir la consommation rationnelle de drogues
Détecter et résoudre les problèmes liés aux drogues

Sensibilisation aux soins pharmaceutiques: se concentre spécifiquement sur les médicaments et leur utilisation optimale.
