Appreciation: to Barr. Kashim Tumsa (KMT), for His Philanthropic Sponsorship of A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative's September Program with N1,000,000 (One Million Naira)

A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative Commends Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsa for Championing the Fight Against Sickle Cell Disease

The management and entire members of A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative, under the visionary leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Aliyu Bakama, wish to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsa, a distinguished philanthropist and advocate for humanitarian causes, for his invaluable sponsorship of our upcoming program in commemoration of the World Sickle Cell Awareness Month, September 2025.

This generous support from Barr. Tumsa represents not just a financial contribution, but a profound investment in the health, hope, and dignity of hundreds of individuals and families battling sickle cell disease across Potiskum and beyond. His timely intervention will enable A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative to implement its carefully designed activities aimed at raising awareness, distributing essential medications, providing free medical consultations, and educating communities on prevention, management, and care strategies.

The September program, which stands as a beacon of advocacy and support for sickle cell warriors, is particularly significant given the growing prevalence and burden of the disease in our region. Barr. Tumsa’s sponsorship is making it possible for vulnerable individuals especially children and low income families, to access lifesaving drugs such as Hydroxyurea, Folic Acid, Paludrine, Ciklavit, Heat Balm, Pain Killers and other essential supplements and wellness kits.

Through this act of uncommon generosity, Barrister Tumsa has reaffirmed his commitment to social responsibility, public health, and the welfare of marginalized communities. His leadership and compassion exemplify the values we uphold at A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative, empathy, equity, and empowerment.

We are confident that this partnership will have a lasting impact, not only during this awareness month but far into the future as we continue to advocate for policies, partnerships, and programs that address the challenges of sickle cell disease.

On behalf of every sickle cell warrior and their families, we say a resounding thank you to Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsa. Your name is etched in the hearts of many, and your legacy of kindness will continue to inspire generations.

Note: He warned me not to publicise, but we are committed to full transparency and accountability.

A Decade of Hope: Launching the A5 10-Year Warrior Support Trust

As a federal government worker and a Tertiary Institution lecturer, my life has been dedicated to education, empowerment, and service. But beyond the walls of academia, I carry a personal journey as a Sickle Cell warrior, one that has inspired a mission to create lasting change for others like me. Through the A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative, where I serve as the Chief Executive Officer, we have touched lives, raised awareness, and provided support to thousands living with Sickle Cell Disorder. Now, we are taking a bold new step.

In 2035, we plan to establish the A5 Sickle Cell Support Centre, a specialized facility dedicated to the welfare of Sickle Cell warriors. This centre will serve as a sanctuary where individuals living with the condition can receive routine medications, blood support, and medical care completely free of charge. It will be a hub of compassion, relief, and resilience for those who need it most.

To bring this vision to life, I am personally initiating a financial commitment under a project titled: “A5 10-Year Warrior Support Trust.” I have instructed my salary bank to implement a standing order, deducting a designated amount from my monthly salary into a newly created account for the next ten (10) years. This Trust will be solely dedicated to funding the Centre’s, equipment, staffing, and sustainable operation.

The Trust account will be jointly operated by myself, the A5 Project Officer, and My wife. Three individuals deeply committed to this cause and united by faith, compassion, and integrity.

This is more than a dream, it is a legacy of love and resilience, built by a warrior for fellow warriors. I invite well meaning individuals, private sector players, and government stakeholders to support this noble vision. Together, we can rewrite the story of Sickle Cell care in Nigeria. One act of kindness at a time.
