Healthy Eating
The basics of healthy eating and good nutrition are the same for women and men: Choose healthy foods most of the time and limit the amount of unhealthy foods you eat. But women have some unique nutritional needs, especially in different stages of life. And healthy eating can be difficult to fit into your everyday life. We've got answers to your questions about healthy eating.

Healthy eating helps:

Your body and brain get the energy you need to think and be physically active
Your body get the essential vitamins and minerals you need to stay alive and healthy. For example, your body needs iron to help deliver oxygen to all of your muscles and organs. Vitamin C helps your body make new skin cells and collagen. Vitamin A helps you see better at night.
You reach and maintain a healthy weight
Lower your risk of diseases, such as Fiber is an important part of an overall healthy eating plan. Good sources of fiber include fortified cereal, many whole-grain breads, beans, fruits (especially berries), dark green leafy vegetables, all types of squash, and nuts. Look on the Nutrition Facts label for fiber content in processed foods like cereals and breads. Use the search tool on this USDA page to find the amount of fiber in whole foods like fruits and vegetables. All vitamins and minerals are important for good health. Vitamins and minerals often work together in your body. It’s usually best to get your vitamins and minerals from many different types of food in all of the food groups. Fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, dairy, grains, and a variety of protein foods to build a healthy plate.

Breakthrough in spinal cord injury treatment from Japan 🇯🇵
Researchers at Keio University have reported promising early results in the world’s first clinical study using iPS-derived stem cells to treat spinal cord injuries — a condition with no current effective treatment.
🧬 The study involved 4 patients with severe spinal cord injuries.
🔹 2 of them showed improved motor function after receiving over 2 million iPS-derived neural stem cells via direct spinal cord injection.
🔹 No serious adverse effects were seen after one year of monitoring.
One patient, an elderly man, is now able to stand without support and has begun walking practice, according to NHK.
The main goal was to test safety, but the improvement seen in two patients is a hopeful sign. iPS (induced pluripotent stem) cells are created by reprogramming mature cells back into a stem-like state, allowing them to develop into various specialized cells.
🧪 Lead researcher Prof. Hideyuki Okano says they now aim to move forward with clinical trials.
Japan sees 5,000+ new spinal injury cases each year — and this may one day lead to the first regenerative treatment for paralysis.

Are You Afraid of Being Canceled?

Unpacking the Fear in Today’s Digital Age

In an era where social media reigns supreme, the fear of being "canceled" looms large over many individuals and organizations.

But what does it really mean to be canceled, and why are so many of us walking on eggshells in our online interactions?

Cancel culture - the practice of withdrawing support from public figures or companies after they've made offensive statements or actions—has become a double-edged sword.

While it can serve as a powerful tool for accountability, it also creates an atmosphere of anxiety and self-censorship.

The Chilling Effect

Many people now hesitate to express their opinions, fearing backlash or public shaming. This "chilling effect" can stifle creativity, innovation, and open dialogue. Are we sacrificing genuine conversation for the sake of avoiding conflict?

The Consequences of Silence

When individuals hold back their thoughts out of fear, society loses diverse perspectives that could foster understanding and growth. The fear of being canceled can lead to a homogenized narrative where only the safest opinions are shared.

Reframing Accountability

Instead of viewing cancel culture solely as a punitive measure, we can shift our focus to constructive dialogue. Embracing a "call-in culture" encourages individuals to address problematic behavior with empathy and understanding rather than immediate condemnation.

Finding Your Voice

So how do we navigate this landscape without succumbing to fear?

Here are 4 strategies:

1. Educate Yourself: Stay informed about the issues at hand and understand different perspectives.

2. Engage Thoughtfully: When discussing sensitive topics, approach conversations with respect and openness.

3. Embrace Vulnerability: Accept that making mistakes is part of growth. Be willing to learn from feedback.

4. Create Safe Spaces: Foster environments where people feel comfortable sharing their thoughts without fear of retribution.

PREMATURE EJ*******ON

Premature ej*******on is one of men’s best kept secrets, coincidentally, it is also a very common condition.

1 in every 3 men between the ages of 18-59 experience PE, yet they hardly seek help or speak up.

What’s the solution to this problem?

WHAT IS PREMATURE EJ*******ON?

Premature ej*******on is a situation where semen leaves the body sooner than wanted during s*x.

2 basic characteristics are;
- Inability to control ej*******on
- Feeling of sadness afterwards

Premature ej*******on is one of the major causes of strain in relationships.

WHY MEN DON’T SPEAK UP

Although PE is common, most men suffering from it do not seek medical attention or talk about it.

Here are some reasons why:
- Embarrassment and shame - Men feel less masculine or ashamed because of it.

- Cultural and social stigma - Society portrays the male gender as dominant, making it difficult for them to admit challenges.

- Lack of awareness - Some men believe PE is natural, and just how their body works.

- Fear of judgement - Men fear ridicule from both partner be health professionals, so they choose not to discuss it.

This silence leads to stress, low self esteem and relationship issues, when in reality, premature ej*******on can be treated using the right approach.

THERE’RE 2 MAJOR TYPES

- Lifelong or primary PE
- Acquired or Secondary PE

Lifelong premature ej*******on starts from a man’s first s*xual experience and continues throughout life.

It is mostly due to biological factors like hypersensitivity of the p***s, or hormonal imbalance.

Acquired or secondary PE develops after years of normal s*xual function.

It is usually caused by psychological stress, medical conditions or relationship issues.

CAUSES OF PREMATURE EJ*******ON

Causes of premature ej*******on are categorized into psychological, biological and lifestyle factors.

1. Psychological causes

These are mental and emotional factors that interfere with s*xual control. They include:

- Performance anxiety - Overthinking about s*xual performance.
- Stress and depression
- Early s*xual conditioning - Growing up in an environment where s*x wasn’t taught
- Relationship problems - Unresolved conflicts or lack of emotional connection.

2. Biological causes

These are physical and hormonal factors that make ej*******on difficult to control. They include:

- Hypersensitivity of the p***s
- Hormonal imbalance
- Neurotransmitter imbalance
- Inflammation of the urethra or prostate
- Erectile dysfunction

3. Lifestyle and external factors

- Excessive po*******hy use
- Lack of exercise and poor diet
- Substance use and abuse (Alcohol, ni****ne and drugs)

WHAT ARE THE SOLUTIONS

Good news is that, premature ej*******on can be treated with the right approach.

The key is identifying the underlying cause, and using targeted solutions.

1. For psychological causes: If stress, anxiety or mental conditioning is the root cause, these methods can help

- Cognitive behavioral therapy, where negative thoughts about s*x are reframed

- S*x therapy and counseling, to ease anxiety

- Meditation and breathing exercises to reduce s*xual tension

2. For biological causes: If hormonal imbalances or hypersensitivity are the issue, consider:

- Medications like antidepressants to increase serotonin levels and delay ej*******on.

- Topical anesthetics like lidocaine to help numb the p***s and reduce sensitivity

- Testosterone treatment therapy and prostate treatment (If inflammation is present)

For lifestyle causes: If habits and lifestyle are contributing to PE, these can help:

- Limiting p**n consumption
- Regular exercise
- Eating more of Zinc and magnesium rich foods
- Quitting smoke and reducing alcohol

BEHAVIORAL TECHNIQUES FOR PE

Regardless of the cause, these techniques help most men:

- Stop/start method: This is when you pause stroking right before ej*******on, then resume when the feeling passes.

- Squeeze technique: This entails squeezing the tip of the p***s when close to climax to prevent ej*******on.

- Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels): These exercises help strengthen the pelvic floor and improve control of ej*******on.

HOW TO DO KEGELS

- Contract the pelvic muscles like you’re trying to stop urine flow
- Hold for 5 seconds, then relax
- Repeat 10-15 times daily.

Premature ej*******on is a common but treatable condition.

Many men suffer in silence, believing they’re alone but they’re not.

Understanding the cause is the first step to finding the right solution.

If it is psychological, therapy, communication and relaxation can help.

If it is biological, medications or topical treatment may be necessary.

If it is due to lifestyle, small changes can go a long way.

Mental health issues aren’t just a brain problem.
They’re a metabolic problem.

How This Information Can Help You Heal:

Studies show depression, anxiety, and even bipolar disorder are linked to how your brain processes energy—especially glucose.
Your brain is the most energy-hungry organ in your body, and if it’s not getting fuel properly, things start breaking down. And we start having mental health symptoms.
Research shows that people with depression often have low glucose metabolism in key areas of the brain. That means their brain isn’t efficiently turning fuel into energy—leading to fatigue, brain fog, and mood instability.
Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have been linked to insulin resistance, meaning the body struggles to regulate blood sugar, which directly affects brain function.
A study from the American Journal of Psychiatry found that individuals with schizophrenia are three times more likely to have insulin resistance, further linking metabolic dysfunction to psychiatric disorders.
Research shows that 60-80% of people with depression experience significant changes in their glucose metabolism, suggesting a clear connection between poor energy regulation and mental health challenges.
So instead of just looking at mental health as a chemical imbalance, we need to be asking:
-How is the brain getting its energy?
-Is blood sugar stable or constantly spiking and crashing?
-Is insulin resistance playing a role?
Treatment for mental health disorders should focus on stabilizing blood sugar through more protein, less sugar, and more movement after eating meals. We have to improve our metabolic health to have mental wellness.
Shares — this knowledge is power.

Do you focus on your blood sugar levels to feel mental well?
