The Real Cost of Relocating to Canada Through the Study Route (Broken Down in Naira & CAD)

One major reason many Nigerians hesitate about relocating to Canada is this: “I don’t know how much it will really cost.” Some assume it’s 50 million naira upfront, others think it’s as cheap as 2 million naira. Both extremes are wrong — and that confusion keeps people stuck.

Relocating through the Study Route has clear financial requirements that IRCC (Canada’s immigration authority) checks before issuing a visa. Here’s what it looks like ….

5 Things You Must NOT Do If You Want Your Canada Study Visa Approved

Every year, thousands of Nigerians get study visa refusals — not because Canada doesn’t want them, but because they made mistakes that could have been avoided. Sadly, some lose millions of naira on repeated refusals.

If you want your study visa approved, here are things you must NEVER do:

1️⃣ Don’t Choose the Wrong Program
Picking a program that has no link to your background or future plans makes IRCC think you’re just using study as an excuse to japa.

2️⃣ Don’t Present Weak Proof of Funds
Showing money that appeared overnight in your account, using fake bank statements, or not explaining your financial story = straight refusal.

3️⃣ Don’t Submit a Poor SOP (Study Plan)

If your SOP doesn’t justify why this course, why this school, why now, and how it connects to your future in Nigeria/Canada, you will be refused.

4️⃣ Don’t Ignore Home Ties
Canada wants to see that you still have reasons to return home if needed — family, property, career. If you ignore this, you look like a flight risk.

5️⃣ Don’t Wait Till Deadlines Are Too Close
Rushing your application, missing key documents, or applying late reduces your approval chances.

The good news? Every one of these mistakes is 100% preventable if you know the rules. That’s exactly what we do in the Canada Admission Accelerator (CAA):

✅ We match you to the right program & school that fits your background.
✅ We guide you on proof of funds strategy that passes IRCC checks.
✅ We build a bulletproof SOP that speaks the visa officer’s language.

✨ If you’re serious about avoiding refusal and relocating through the study route with confidence, send us a message to get started now.

All the Reasons an Applicant Could Be Refused for Proof of Funds (POF)

Every year, thousands of Nigerians get study visa refusals not because they weren’t eligible — but simply because they made mistakes with proof of funds. Many assume “show money in the account” is enough. But IRCC officers reject applications daily for POF errors that could have been avoided.

Here are the main reasons POF refusals happen (straight from real cases):

Inconsistent Bank History – Large unexplained deposits or “sudden money” appearing right before application. Officers suspect it’s borrowed.

Insufficient Funds – Simple as it sounds.. not showing enough funds Could be as a result of misscalculation, exchange rate flucctuation or you just didn’t show enough funds ....

Wrong Source of Funds – Using third-party accounts (uncle, friend, distant cousin) without legal explanation. even your own account

Unverifiable Documents – Fake or unverifiable bank statements, fixed deposit slips, or investment papers.

Poorly Presented Sponsor Relationship – No clear legal or blood tie to the sponsor, or weak explanation of why they’re sponsoring you.

Not Matching Timeline – Submitting funds that don’t cover the full duration of study + dependents (if relocating with family).

The painful part is: all of these can be prevented. But IRCC officers won’t give you a second chance to explain after refusal.
