is Corrupt Jarre!
My previous posts on this issue of corruption had indeed been an eye opener to many. What the society had made us feel wasn't bad, have been exposed to us as the building blocks of corruption.
One of my friends, in his bid to rope me into being corrupt, asked me if I had ever gone to an occasion late on purpose. I told him No! But if he wants to know if I have ever been involved in corrupt practices? It's a big Yes! I am sure he was surprised, because he had wanted me to deny it. Then he went further to say; "especially as una take run SUG that time for FUTA." "that's a story for another day", was my reply.
Then I went further to let him know that examination malpractice we called 'bonding' while we were on campus is corrupt practices. Though our consciences might not be pricked, because it has become a norm. But that doesn't make it right. While we held public office on campus, we have been involved in various corrupt practices. Either by direct commission or by obstruction of justice when a probing panel was set up. We called it 'loyalty'. But in the real sense, we were loyal to our interest and not the students that voted us into power.
The fact that corruption is at various degrees, doesn't mean that the man who cornered a thousand is less corrupt than he that cornered a million. I am convinced that the difference might be varied opportunities.
However, in my summation, we cannot continue to be imprisoned by corruption because we have fallen victims in the past. We can't continue to tell the younger generations that everyone is corrupt. Thereby making them accept corruption as a norm.
I am therefore canvassing for us all to be truthful to our consciences like Paul the Apostle. Who could boldly say, "I was once a chief persecutor of the faith which I now preach."
We need leaders that can say, "I once flowed with the trend of corruption. But today I have realised that I was doing myself and the nation a great harm. I will spend my loot in charity or if still available return it to the government."
Then we will know that the anti corruption war is not just another 'Soap Opera' the elites keep playing for the poor masses to watch.
I have made up my mind to stand against corruption.
What about you?
