HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT RHESUS FACTOR BEFORE??
Oya be calm, draw you seat am going to tell you 🤷🤷,as you are knowing your genotype do well to know your rhesus status👌👌
Rhesus (Rh) factor is a protein found on the surface of red blood cells in most people. It's a crucial factor in blood typing and transfusions.
*Types of Rhesus Factor*
1. *Rh Positive (Rh+)*: Individuals with the Rh protein on their red blood cells are considered Rh positive.
2. *Rh Negative (Rh-)*: Those without the Rh protein are considered Rh negative.
*Importance of Rhesus Factor*
1. *Blood Transfusions*: Knowing the Rh factor is crucial for blood transfusions. If an Rh-negative person receives Rh-positive blood, their immune system may react, leading to complications.
2. *Pregnancy*: During pregnancy, an Rh-negative mother may develop antibodies against the Rh-positive blood cells of her fetus. This can lead to hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN), a condition where the mother's antibodies attack the baby's red blood cells.
In my next class I will be talking on RHESUS FACTOR and PREGNANCY.
