I will like to enlighten us on Bartholin Cyst
For those that do not know.

Bartholin cyst is a swell up with fluid buildup which occurs on one side of the va**na.

Sometimes this fluid become infected, and other time it's not infected. It could be painless as well as very painful.

The causes include when one of the va**na glands becomes infected, usually by bacteria, or via s*xually transmitted infections.

Diagnosis:
To diagnose a Bartholin's cyst, there could be:

*A performance of a pelvic exam

*Taking a sample of secretions from your va**na or cervix to test for a s*xually transmitted infection

*Recommendation of a test of the mass (biopsy) to check for cancerous cells, especially if you're postmenopausal or over 40

One of the medical treatment of Bartholin cyst include surgical removal of the fluid in the gland.

However, there are home remedies for it.

Home remedies for Bartholin cyst include:

Soak yourself in warm water in a bath tub for 15 to 20 minutes. Do this four times a day for a 3 to 4 days. This may resolve the Bartholin cyst, even when it's an infected Bartholin cyst.

Also Apple cider vinegar can be used to treat an infected Bartholin's cyst by diluting little acv with little water and apply it to the cyst with a cotton ball.

In addition, you can take over-the-counter painkillers, such as Ibuprofen, aspirin or tylenol to help with the pain and discomfort.

It's very important to also drink alot of water throughout the day.

I hope you got value from this because it's been a while posted on this Page..

Mkpulummiri is the Igbo slang name for a very dangerous hard drug called M**hamphetamine or Crystal M**h.

It Looks like Ice Block and can be blue in color sometimes. Mkpulummiri is known by experts to be one of the hardest drug addictions to treat.

It is very addictive and affects the central nervous system of whoever takes it. It creates a feeling of massive happiness that is very addictive and makes the taker want to fly.

When the effect wears off, the taker tries to have that feeling again thereby taking it again.

How Can You Know Someone Who Is Addicted

Why does my underwear appear bleached?

Every lady/woman who has attained puberty will have Va**na discharge- it is normal. It may leave a white or yellow stain on your underwear 🩲 , that’s ok. Discharge is part of the va**na’s natural self-cleaning process.

Your va**nal discharge’s pH level is on the naturally acidic side, varying between 3.5 and 4.5 courtesy of the bacteria “Lactobacillus” working overtime to keep the atmosphere in the va**na optimum. A healthy va**na will produce more acidic discharge, but the pH can fluctuate due to all sorts of factors, including your s*x life, hormones, and the menstrual cycle.

Because the va**na discharge is acidic, you may notice that your underwear looks bleached (especially the dark colored ones). This is not som**hing to worry or be alarmed about, it just shows a normal and healthy va**na doing its job.

If you’re wondering how to prevent this bleaching effect, following the steps below may help:

👉🏾Use of pantyliner. This keeps your Va**nal discharge from reaching your underwear
👉🏾Rinse/wash your underwear immediately after taking them off instead of leaving them for the big laundry day (this gives time for the acidic discharge to do the bleaching)

Healthy discharge doesn’t have a strong smell or colour and won’t be entirely odourless or smell like flowers 💐 so don’t panic if you have a slight scent.

Having mentioned what is healthy, it is noteworthy to let you know if there is any disturbance/alteration in this ecosystem of the va**na, the va**na discharge and smell may also tell.

Examples of habits that alter your va**na ecosystem include:

👉🏾Douching: the act of trying the wash the va**na (washing inside is wrong, washing the v***a is ok)
👉🏾Multiple s*xual partners
👉🏾Frequent use of antibiotics: they knock out both the good and bad bacteria.
👉🏾STI: include Gonorrhea, chlamydia, Trichomoniasis
👉🏾Poor hygiene: cleaning your perineum from back to front (wrong). You should instead clean/wash from front to back so that you don’t bring the bacteria in your a**s to your va**na or urethra opening.
👉🏾Tight Underwear: clothing that don’t breathe well, doesn’t allow free flow of air and can create good medium for growth of other microorganisms. Invest in cotton underwear

STOP the habits above to allow your va**na regain normalcy

PS: the popular staphylococcus being chanted in every car park interestingly isn’t a common cause of abnormal va**na discharge.

If you have abnormal discharge (cottage cheese-like, grayish and fish smelling, yellow and creamy looking like pus, greenish or brown when you’re not on period or around your period) visit a doctor today to get accurate diagnosis and treatment.

I hope you found it helpful.

FERTILITY TEST FOR MALES AND FEMALES!!!

The first test you need to do after trying to conceive for a year without succeeding is hormonal profile test and s***m check.

I always advice both parties do this test because it is very important since it takes two to make a baby.

Unfortunately, most time's you find out that the man is not ready to go for the test or the doctors won't recommend.

The woman would have gone through different painful procedures and rounds of failed stimulated cycle before looking at the man

A man should consider having fertility testing earlier if he has a prior medical condition or history that may cause infertility, including:

Testicular damage.
Erectile dysfunction.
Prior cancer treatment.
Prior mumps infection.
Prior urinary tract surgery.

FERTILITY TEST FOR MEN!!!

Semen analysis
A semen analysis will show the amount of semen the man produces as well as the s***m shape (morphology), quantity and quality of movement (motility). In certain cases, more than one semen analysis is conducted because s***m levels can fluctuate between tests. Men should plan on giving samples at two doctor visits at least two weeks apart due to expected differences in semen at different times.

Genetic testing
If the s***m concentration is very low in a semen analysis, it may indicate a genetic cause for infertility. This can be confirmed through genetic testing on the s***m samples.

Hormone levels blood test
Male hormones, including testosterone, are vital for s***m production and s*xual development, so a blood test is commonly conducted to examine hormone levels.

Scrotal ultrasound
An ultrasound of the man’s sc***um tests for testicle obstruction. A transrectal ultrasound closely looks at the vesicles and ejaculatory ducts that transfer semen.

Post ejaculatory urinalysis
This analysis tests for the presence of s***m in a man’s urine, indicating retrograde ej*******on.

FERTILITY TEST FOR WOMEN

Sonogram (ultrasound imaging)
After the initial consult, the fertility specialist may perform a sonogram (image produced by ultrasound echo) of the woman’s pelvic area to determine any issues affecting her fertility. The pelvic ultrasound can diagnose such problems as an abnormally shaped uterus or cysts in the ovaries.

Hormone blood tests
Blood tests are done at different times during a woman’s menstrual cycle to measure hormone levels in the blood. For an egg to reach maturation and the ovaries to release an egg, a woman must have balanced hormone levels. The doctor performing the blood hormone test will determine if the woman is producing high quality eggs and if the brain is properly sending hormonal signals to the ovaries. An evaluation for follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels drawn on cycle day three (three days after a woman’s period starts) is a common test for women. Other possible blood tests for hormones include anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and estradiol.

Ovarian reserve test
Testing for ovarian reserve assesses the potential number of eggs a woman has in her ovaries. Ovarian reserve testing may involve an ultrasound or blood tests.

These tests are recommended if a woman is at high risk of having a depleted ovarian reserve. These risks include:

Unexplained infertility diagnosis.
Age 35 or older.
Family history of early menopause.
Previous reproductive surgery.
Having only one o***y.
Previous gonadotropin ovarian stimulation.
Previous treatment with toxic agents such as chemotherapy.

Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery in which the doctor inserts a camera and small surgical instruments into the abdominal cavity through a small incision in the belly button. Laparoscopic surgery is used to evaluate and treat endometriosis and to remove uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and scar tissue.

Sonohysterogram
Sonohysterogram uses a saline solution to fill the uterine cavity and a transva**nal ultrasound to create a clear image of the uterus. The procedure helps diagnose uterine lesions and irregular growths including fibroids or polyps.

Hysterosalpingogram
A hysterosalpingogram is a process

VA**NAL DISCHARGE?😕 IS IT NORMAL?☹️SHOULD I BE WORRIED?🤔Va**nal discharge is most often a normal and regular occurrence ...

VA**NAL DISCHARGE?😕 IS IT NORMAL?☹️SHOULD I BE WORRIED?🤔

Va**nal discharge is most often a normal and regular occurrence and will vary throughout your menstrual cycle.

For example, there will be more discharge when you're ovulating, breastfeeding, or s*xually aroused.

However, there are certain types of discharge that might indicate a problem.

💠WHAT IS VA**NA DISCHARGE?

Va**nal discharge is fluid secreted from tiny glands in the va**na and cervix.

This fluid leaks from the va**na to remove old cells and debris, keeping the va**na and reproductive tract clean and healthy.

The amount of va**nal discharge can vary significantly from person to person.

The color, consistency, and amount can also change from day to day depending on menstrual cycle, hormones and pregnancy.

💠WHAT IS A NORMAL VA**NA DISCHARGE?

A normal va**na discharge has the following features.

🌀Colour-Clear or whitish.

🌀 Odour -Odourless or slight odour that is not strong smelling.

🌀Consistency
At the beginning of the cycle, it tends to be more dry/sticky, or you may notice no discharge at all.

Just before and around ovulation, it’s likely to become similar to stretchy, wet, transparent egg white.

🌀Volume -Varies according to your menstrual cycle.

❇️NOTE-If you use hormonal birth control, these typical patterns of va**nal discharge will stop, as the hormonal cycling is stopped.

💠WHAT IS AN ABNORMAL VA**NA DISCHARGE?

An abnormal va**na discharge is typically recognized by changes in colour ,thickness , volume consistentency and odour.

It sometimes goes with itching , burning and irritation.

Here are some typical features of an abnormal va**na discharge.

🌀THICK,WHITE DISCHARGE.

If thick, white discharge goes along with other symptoms, such as itching, burning and irritation, it is probably due to a yeast infection. If not, it is a normal discharge.

🌀YELLOW DISCHARGE.

Yellow or darker shades of yellow discharge is an abnormal discharge, as this could be a sign of a bacterial infection or s*xually transmitted infection.
There also may be an odour associated with it.

🌀BROWN DISCHARGE.

Brown discharge may be caused by irregular period cycles. It could also be a sign of cervical or uterine cancer.

🌀GREEN DISCHARGE.

Green discharges are abnormal and could be a sign of bacterial infection or a s*xually transmitted infection, such as trichomoniasis.

🌀GRAY DISCHARGE.

Gray discharges are abnormal and could be a symptom of a common bacterial infection called bacterial vaginosis (BV).

🌀PINK DISCHARGE.

Pink discharge most commonly occurs with spotting before a period. It can also be a sign of implantation bleeding in early pregnancy.

In some cases, pink discharges can also be a sign of ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst, Infections ,Uterine polyps.miscarriages.

If you regualrly see pink discharges especially outside your period, see a doctor.

❇️NOTE-During menopause, a woman should not have any type of va**nal bleeding, as this could be a sign of uterine cancer.

💠WHAT TO DO

Ladies,If you notice you have any features of the abnormal va**na discharge listed above,it is advisable to see a Gynecologist to rule out any serious problem.

Abnormal va**na discharge could indicate a serious problem and if left untreated could lead to serious complications like pelvic inflammatory diseases, kidney failure, infertilty etc

💠TIPS TO PREVENT ABNORMAL VA**NA DISCHARGE/INFECTIONS.

🌀Practice good hygiene.
🌀Avoid tight underwears.Your va**na needs air.
🌀Don't use va**na douches.
🌀Avoid antibiotics abuse.Take only when prescribed by a doctor.
🌀Maintain proper diet, sleep, and exercise.
🌀Keep the va**na clean and dry.
🌀After having bowel movement or urination, wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the va**na.
🌀Avoid va**na detox pearls.
🌀Avoid va**na steaming.
🌀Use pads instead of tampoons
🌀Avoid Scratching infected va**na areas. This could cause inflammation.Inflamed areas will only make things worse.
🌀Avoid va**na steaming.
🌀Use pads instead of tampoons
🌀Avoid Scratching infected va**na areas. This could cause inflammation.Inflamed areas will only make things worse.
🌀Avoid va**nal contact with products that can irritate the va**na, such as feminine hygiene products, perfumed or deodorant soaps, powders, lotions, and bubble baths.
🌀Always use condoms during s*xual in*******se unless you are in a long-term monogamous relationship.
🌀If you are being treated for a va**nal infection, use all the medication as directed, even if you think you are better.
🌀Don't have s*xual in*******se during treatment for a va**nal infection.

📌Always remember that normal va**na discharge does not need any medications as it helps to keep the va**nal tissues healthy, provide lubrication and protect against infection and irritation.

DANGERS OF USING VA**NA DETOX PEARLS

Detox pearls are small cloth-covered balls packed with herbs like Mothersworth, Rhizoma, Angelica, Osthol and Borneol.

Some ladies use these pearls because they think it helps them to get rid of uterus and va**na toxins, negative emotions, hormonal imbalances, yeast Infections, fibroids, endometriosis etc.. They also claim it helps improve fertility and regulate the menstrual cycle.

No scientific studies have shown that these herbs help any of those problems. They have been found beneficial in general medicine, but not for the conditions they’re advertised to address.

The constant use of these detox pearls can lead to the death of Lactobacillus acidophilus. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a common bacteria in the va**na that produces lactic acid which prevents the growth of other harmful bacteria.

This pearls can cause a va**na PH imbalance giving rise to the over-growth of candida albican thus leading to va**na yeast Infection. If left in too long in the va**na, the pearls can also cause severe infection, pelvic inflammation disease and toxic shock syndrome if used during periods. While you use them to treat yeast infections, it can cause another severe yeast infection and make you bleed.

Most women are prone to yeast infection and other va**na related infections because the va**na is sensitive, it could be caused by a change of environment, s*xual partners, restrooms, tissue papers and so on.

The va**na is self cleansing and does not require any special detox pearls to enhance its cleansing ability.

However,if you have any va**na related problem,visit a Gynaecologist..

BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS
( **nalis )

Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of abnormal va**nal odor and discharge. It is caused by a change in the type of bacteria found in the va**na.

Normally, bacteria belonging mostly to the Lactobacillus family live harmlessly in the va**na and produce chemicals that keep the va**na mildly acidic. In bacterial vaginosis, Lactobacillus bacteria are replaced by other types of bacteria that normally are present in smaller concentrations in the va**na.

🌀 Maintaining va**nal pH between 3.8 to 4.5

Scientists do not fully understand the reason for this change. Risk factors that seem to increase the likelihood of bacterial vaginosis include a history of multiple s*x partners, a s*xual relationship with a new partner, cigarette smoking, va**nal douching and the use of the intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD).

Although most of these risk factors are related to s*xual activity, women who have never had va**nal in*******se can also develop bacterial vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis often occurs during pregnancy. It may cause premature labor and delivery, premature rupture of membranes, and postpartum uterine infections.

This is why pregnant women with a history of premature labor or other complications may be checked for bacterial vaginosis even when they don't have any symptoms.

SYMPTOMS
~
Up to 50% of women diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis do not have symptoms. In others, it causes an unpleasant "fishy" va**nal odor and a yellow or white va**nal discharge.

For some women, these symptoms are especially bothersome during or after in*******se. The discharge seen in bacterial vaginosis tends to be thinner than the "cheesy," thick discharge seen in va**nal yeast (Candida) infections.

Bacterial vaginosis usually does not cause significant irritation of the v***a or pain during in*******se. If you have these symptoms, your doctor will check for other possible causes.

DIAGNOSIS
~
Your doctor will ask you to describe the va**nal odor and discharge. He or she also will ask you about your medical history, including:

The date of your last menstrual period
The number of s*x partners you have
Whether you have had any va**nal or urinary tract infections before
Whether you have had any s*xually transmitted diseases or pelvic Infections .

👉 The m**hod of contraception you use
👉Your pregnancy history
👉Personal hygiene habits, such as douching and your use of feminine deodorants
👉Whether you wear tightly fitting undergarments
👉Whether you use tampons
👉Your doctor also may ask if you have any other diseases, such as diabetes, or if you have used antibiotics recently.

Your doctor can diagnose bacterial vaginosis based on the results of a gynecological examination and laboratory tests of your va**nal fluid. There is no perfect test, but if you have three of the following four criteria, it is highly likely that you have bacterial vaginosis:

White, thin, coating on your va**nal walls during the pelvic exam
pH test of va**nal discharge that shows low acidity (pH greater than 4.5)

Fishy odor when a sample of va**nal discharge is combined with a drop of potassium hydroxide on a glass slide (the "whiff test")

Clue cells (va**nal skin cells that are coated with bacteria) visible on microscopic exam of va**nal fluid
Your doctor may order other laboratory tests to look for other causes of va**nal discharge.

PREVENTION
~
Doctors are not exactly sure why bacterial vaginosis develops. Because it occurs more commonly in people who are s*xually active, bacterial vaginosis is considered by some to be s*xually transmitted.

However, bacterial vaginosis also occurs in people who either are not s*xually active or have been in long-term relationships with just one person.

In some women, bacterial vaginosis continues to return after treatment. Scientists don't understand why this happens.

In some cases, treating the male s*x partner or routine use of condoms may help to prevent this, but these interventions don't always help.

Having bacterial vaginosis may make it easier for you to be infected with HIV if your s*xual partner has HIV. If you already have HIV, then bacterial vaginosis may increase the chance that you will spread HIV to your s*xual partner.

TREATMENT
~
For most women, bacterial vaginosis is simply a nuisance, and the goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms.

Doctors commonly treat bacterial vaginosis with metronidazole (Flagyl or MetroGel-Va**nal) or clindamycin (Cleocin). Either can be taken by mouth or applied as a va**nal cream or gel. However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all pregnant women with symptoms be treated with oral medications because the medications are safe and work better than va**nal creams or gels.

Studies show that a seven-day treatment with oral metronidazole or a five-day treatment with metronidazole va**nal gel is equally effective in non-pregnant women. Clindamycin va**nal cream is slightly less effective than either type of metronidazole.

All women with symptoms of bacterial vaginosis should be treated. Some women also should be screened for bacterial vaginosis even if they don't have symptoms.

Pregnant women who are at high risk of preterm labor and delivery should be tested for bacterial vaginosis and considered for treatment if it is detected.

Some physicians also recommend that women undergoing certain gynecological procedures be tested for bacterial vaginosis, and treated even if symptoms are not present.

This is because bacterial vaginosis has been associated with the development of pelvic inflammatory disease and other infections after endometrial biopsy, surgical abortion, hysterectomy, intrauterine device placement, Caesarean section and uterine curettage.

Doctors do not recommend routine treatment for the male s*x partners of women who have bacterial vaginosis.

URINATING after S*X is helpful.
Peeing after s*x may help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs).
UTIs occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract, usually through your urethra, and travels to your bladder.
If you have a va**na, your urethra — the opening where urine is released — is close to your va**nal opening.
If you have a p***s, your urethra releases both urine and semen — though not at the same time.
Peeing after s*x can help flush bacteria that was introduced during in*******se away from your urethra. It’s one fairly easy way to try and prevent infections.
Peeing after s*x may help reduce your risk of UTIs. Pair this with proper hydration(Drink water after S*X) and regular bathroom breaks (Always wash after s*x) and your risk may go down even more. ..

Note: most untreated UTIs may cause pyelonephritis which is a kidney problem.i advice you always go for lab test after treatment of UTI to confirm you are free.

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE FOLIC ACID BEFORE AND DURING PREGNANCY 🤰 ?
~
Taking a prenatal vitamin with the recommended 400 micrograms (mcg) of folic acid before and during pregnancy can help prevent birth defects of your baby's brain and spinal cord.

🔰WHAT IS FOLIC ACID ?
~
Folic acid, which is also called folate, is a B vitamin. The best food sources of folic acid are fortified cereals.

Folic acid plays an important role in the production of red blood cells and helps your baby's neural tube develop into her brain and spinal cord.

🔰WHEN SHOULD I START TAKING FOLIC ACID ?
"~
Birth defects occur within the first 3-4 weeks of pregnancy. So it's important to have folic acid in your system during those early stages when your baby's brain and spinal cord are developing.
One study showed that women who took folic acid for at least a year before getting pregnant cut their chances of delivering early by 50% or more.

The CDC recommends that you start taking folic acid every day for at least a month before you become pregnant, and every day while you are pregnant. However, the CDC also recommends that all women of childbearing age take folic acid every day. So you'd be fine to start taking it even earlier.

🔰HOW MUCH FOLIC ACID SHOULD I TAKE ?
~
The recommended dose for all women of childbearing age is 400 mcg of folic acid each day. If you take a multivitamin every day, check to see if it has the recommended amount. If for some reason you don't want to take a multivitamin, you can take folic acid supplements. But you should not take both.

Here's how much folic acid is recommended each day in terms of pregnancy:
• While you're trying to conceive: 400 mcg
• For the first three months of pregnancy: 400 mcg
• For months four to nine of pregnancy: 600 mcg
• While breastfeeding: 500 mcg

COMPLICATIONS IN PREGNANCY
(Topic Briefly Discussed)

INTRODUCTION
~Pregnancy can be threatened even when it is not expected. Some complications in pregnancy are severe such that you will need urgent medical attention.
The complications develop from many factors such as diabetes, hypertension and even STDs (Sexually Transmitted Disease) such as syphilis, Chlamydia and other conditions such as viruses, bacteria and parasites.

The possible pregnancy complications that can harm you and your developing fetus are:

GESTATIONAL DIABETES .
~
This is quite a common complication that develops; between 2 and 7% of women develop this condition.

If this condition is not treated it can increase your risk of miscarriage and even death of the fetus and also thyroid problems.

This generally develops during the second trimester (14-28 weeks) This can be treated with insulin to manage your blood sugar levels.

AMNIOTIC FLUID
~
This is a complication that develops from a very high polyhydramnios (having too much amniotic fluid in the womb) It occurs in about 1 in 250 pregnancies or very low Oligohydramnios (having too little amniotic fluid in your womb).

Too much amniotic fluid causes pressure on your uterus and may lead to pre-term delivery puts pressure on your diaphragm, which leads to breathing problems.

Too little amniotic fluid leads to poor fetal growth, post-term delivery, birth defects such as urinary tract abnormalities.

PLACENTAL COMPLICATIONS
~
Complications of placenta are placental abruption (wherein the placental lining has separated from the uterus of the mother. It is the most common cause of late pregnancy bleeding.

In humans, it refers to the abnormal separation after 20 weeks of gestation and prior to birth. It occurs in 1% of pregnancies) and placental previa ( your placenta is lying unusually low in your uterus, next to or covering your cervix).

Premature detachment of a normally situated placenta is placental abruption where the exact cause for this condition is unknown. The detachment may be partial or complete.

[b] Placental previa is the condition where the placenta is located in lower(dow 👇 ) segment of the uterus, partially or completely covering the opening of the cervix. It leads to severe bleeding during second and third trimesters of pregnancy. The exact cause of placental previa is not known.

PRE-ECLAMPSIA (HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE )
~
The development of high blood pressure. It generally occurs after about 20 weeks it is also known as toxaemia. It's characterized by High Blood Pressure, Oedema, Proteinuria and in some cases loss of consciousness.

ECTOPIC PREGNANCY
~
This is a complication where the development of the fetus takes place outside of the uterus or even in the fallopian tubes. It is also known as a tubal pregnancy.

RHESUS FACTOR
~
The Rh factor in your blood type can cause harm to your baby. If the mother is Rh negative and her partner Rh positive, the combination results in a baby with Rh positive. In this condition, when the blood transfers from mother to the child, the red blood cells will break down leading to anaemia fetalis

MISCARRIAGE
~
Miscarriage is an unintentional or sudden loss of pregnancy. This type of pregnancy complication develops mostly due to infections, age, gene factors, malnutrition, environmental hazards, hormonal problems, some causes could be prevented, Routine Antenatal Care can help in reducing risk the miscarriage...
