THE TEACHINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
- June 8
Reflection: John 7:15 'And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?'

JOHN 7:14-15
Jesus received His wisdom and knowledge by direct revelation from the Spirit of God rather than by the teachings of man. Jesus had been learning, but not through man. The Holy Ghost was His teacher. Jesus had to be taught the things of God. This looks contrary to Colossians 2:3, which says that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus. If Jesus was God manifest in the flesh, why would He have to learn or be taught?

The harmony between these apparently opposite statements is that Jesus' spirit man was 100% God and had all of the wisdom and understanding of God in it, but it was manifest in natural flesh. It wasn't sinful flesh but it was flesh, nonetheless, and had to be educated. Jesus was not taught by man, but He was taught by the direct revelation of the Holy Spirit. The knowledge was within Him but it had to be drawn out.

At the new birth, a born-again man's spirit 'is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him' (Col. 3:10). 'We have the mind of Christ' (1 Cor. 2:16), and 'an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things' (1 Jn. 2:20). All of these things are a reality in our spiritual man. However, just as Jesus had to be taught, so we must draw this wisdom and knowledge out of our spirits and renew our minds with it (Rom. 12:2). This is one of the main ministries of the Holy Spirit to the believer. Through the new birth, we have received the mind of Christ in our spirit man and are in the process of growing in wisdom by drawing this knowledge out of our spirits and renewing (or reprogramming) our minds. This wisdom has to be drawn out by faith, time spent in the Word, and prayer.

PRAYERS AND WARFARE:
1. Father, let me gain access to the teachings of the Holy Spirit.
2. Father, let the wisdom and understanding of God download to my mind from the Spirit.
3. Father, take over my mind and let it be filled with the mind of Christ.
4. I bind every spirit that wants to hinder me from renewing my mind on a continual basis.
5. I decree that the word of God will dwell in me richly through intensive studying.

LIMITLESS FORGIVENESS
- June 7
Reflection: Matthew 18:33 'Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?'
MATTHEW 18: 21-35

Peter thought he was being very generous by offering to forgive his brother seven times in one day, but Jesus said he should forgive him 490 times in one day. It would be impossible to have someone sin against you 490 times in one day. Jesus is actually saying that there should be no limit to our forgiveness.

When we are offended or hurt, we often feel justified in holding a grudge. The Old Testament law expressed this when it stated, 'Eye for eye, tooth for tooth' (Ex. 21:23-25). Until the offense was paid, we did not feel free to forgive. However, God dealt with all men's offenses by placing sin upon the perfect Savior who was judged in place of every sinner of all time. To demand that others now earn our forgiveness is not Christ like. Jesus died for every man's sins, extending forgiveness to us while we were yet sinners, and we should do the same.

The main thrust of this parable is that when we have people who wrong us, we should remember the great mercy that God has shown to us and respond in kind. Any debt that could be owed to us is insignificant compared to the debt we were forgiven. We should have compassion on others as Christ had on us.

If God expects us to forgive our brother who has trespassed against us 490 times in one day (actually an unlimited number of times), certainly He who is love will do no less with us.

The forgiveness that we have received from the Lord is infinitely greater than any forgiveness we could ever be asked to extend toward others.

PRAYERS AND WARFARE:
1. Father, help me to appreciate daily that you paid for me the debt that I could not pay.
2. Father, I receive the grace to forgive those who sin against me, even when they didn’t ask for it.
3. Father, assist me to have compassion on anyone who offends me, even as Jesus had mercy on me.
4. I bind the spirit of revenging for myself, for vengeance is of the Lord.
5. I reject every desire in me to hold grudge against anyone that do me wrong.

HIS PURPOSE REVEALED
- May 29
Reflection: Matthew 16:21, 'From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.'
MATTHEW 16:20-28

Despite the abundant and clear prophecies about His death and resurrection, Jesus' disciples didn't understand or remember Jesus' words until after His resurrection (Lk. 24:5-9). Luke records twice that Jesus' sayings about His resurrection were hidden from the disciples. It is interesting to note, however, that the chief priests and Pharisees remembered Jesus' prophecies about His resurrection (Mt. 27:63) when His disciples didn't.

One of the great truths of the Bible is that Jesus died for our sins, not for His own. Jesus was totally sinless. This is one of the major differences between Christianity and the religions of the world. No other religious leader has ever claimed to be sinless, therefore no other religious leader is even in the same class with Jesus. Also, no other religious leader has ever given his life in sacrifice to atone for the sins of others. It wouldn't have done any good if one had. Since the religious leaders were sinners themselves. But, since Jesus was the sinless Son of God, His life was worth more than all of humanity throughout the ages.

Every detail of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection was already prophesied in scripture before it happened. All the events of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection had fulfilled scripture. God's Word is the ultimate authority and only through His Word can we receive faith to be born again. We must preach the Word, not experiences. Experiences are only useful to illustrate that God's Word is true. Jesus is alive from the dead. His tomb is empty. Jesus provided us with the ultimate verification of His authority. He arose from the dead.

PRAYERS AND WARFARE:
1. Father, may I never forget the prophecies given through your word.
2. Father, let me remember forever that you did not die for your sins but for mine. You were sinless!
3. Father, reveal my future to me to enable me live a purposeful life.
4. I refuse every tendency to preach experience above the word of God. I will only use my experiences to confirm the word of God.
5. I bind every evil spirit that wants me to doubt or forget the word of God.

IT’S WHO YOU KNOW
- June 22
Reflection: John 9:30 'The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.'
JOHN 9:28-30

The 'acid test' of whether or not someone is of God is by his actions. Jesus' actions were so miraculous and overwhelmingly consistent with God's Word that any reservations about whether or not He was of God should have been set aside. But, as in Mark 7:13, they had exalted their own traditions above God's Word, thereby making the Word of God of no effect in their own lives. Just as in this instance nearly two thousand years ago, theologians today are sometimes the last to accept a move of God if it violates their traditional beliefs. 'The common people heard him gladly' (Mk. 12:37). 'Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth' (1 Cor. 8:1).

In spiritual matters, a person can educate himself in theology to the degree that it does more harm than good. It is possible to win a theological battle and yet lose the war for a person's heart. Arguments over points of theology often distract from the more important issues. There is no premium on ignorance, but love is infinitely superior to knowledge. We should learn all we can, but we must make our knowledge a servant to love. 'The greatest of these is love' (1 Cor. 13:13).

If anyone's quest for knowledge leads them away from knowing God, then it would have been preferable for them to stay ignorant. What we know is not as important as who we know (speaking of the Lord). Our most important goal in life must be to love God and be known of Him.

PRAYERS AND WARFARE:
1. Father, let me never exalt traditions of men above your word in my life.
2. Father, help us to know that love is superior to knowledge. Knowing you is better than all knowledge.
3. Father, like the common man, make us to hear and believe You gladly. Mark 12:37
4. I desist from every knowledge that will hinder the love God from flowing in my life.
5. I bind every ungodly knowledge that will hinder my knowledge of God in truth.

A young lady committed a crime and she was sent to court. The punishment for the crime was life imprisonment. She shed tears for help but to no one available for help. When the case was called in court she started weeping.

Her family and friends who accompanied her started weeping but there was no hope. But something happened. But as soon as the young lady stepped into the witness box, a man stood up and the court room and identified himself as her lawyer suddenly the entire court room went silent. Everyone looked at Him. He was noble and gentle. He stood up and interceded on behalf of the young lady.

The case was difficult, yet He used all His strength, energy and resources to fight on behalf of the woman. After a long legal battle between the man and the accusers, the lady was set free. The lady fell before the man and asked *'WHO ARE YOU'* The next day the lady deliberately committed another crime and was sent to the same court.

As soon as she entered the courtroom, she saw the man who interceded for her the previous day on the judgement seat. He was no longer a lawyer, but a judge. With smiles on her face the lady said *'I have come again'*

The man lifted his head and said 'yesterday I was a lawyer, so I fought for you, even when you were guilty. But today I am a judge and my judgement must be fair.' With tears in the ladies eyes she asked for the second time *'WHO ARE YOU'* and the man replied

*"YESTERDAY I WAS YOUR SAVIOUR. BUT NOW I AM YOUR JUDGE"*

Today Christ Jesus is our lawyer and redeemer, but a day is coming when He will give a fair judgement to everyone.

How prepared are you to stand before his judgment seat?

*JESUS IS COMING SOON, SO PREPARE TO MEET HIM*.

BELIEVE THE WORD
- January 16
Reflection: Matthew 2:1, 'Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.'
MATTHEW 2:1-12

How could this be? The greatest event in the history of God's dealings with mankind was taking place and the leaders of God's people didn't even know about it. Foreigners who were unfamiliar with the covenants of God perceived what God was doing more than His own chosen people! (Eph. 2:12)

The apparent answer to this is that these Persian wise men were more in tune to the prophecies of scripture than the Jews were. Daniel had been promoted to be the head of all the wise men of Babylon (Dan. 2:48). While in Babylon, Daniel had come through the lions' den victoriously and had no doubt gained the reputation as the greatest wise man of all (Dan. 6).

It was during this time that Daniel wrote the prophecy of Dan. 9:24-27, which pinpointed the time of the Messiah's birth. This no doubt provided the inspiration for these wise men. The star simply served as a sign that the prophesied event had come and directed them towards where the king was born.

The Jews had these same prophecies. They just weren't waiting in anticipation for the birth of the Messiah. The Word of God only profits us if we believe it (Heb. 4:2). Let's not make the same mistake. Mix the truths that you know from God's Word with faith.

PRAYERS AND WARFARE:
1. Father, let me be in tune with your agenda for my generation.
2. Father, let me believe your word absolutely in order for it to profit me.
3. Father, grant me the privilege of mixing your word with faith to enable me benefit thereby.
4. I withdraw from every company or teachings that will deny me access to your present realities in the world.
5. I demand that no one will take over my duties assigned to me by God. I will do my work and finish it.
