Every year, animal-borne diseases cause 2.5 billion cases of sickness and 2.7 million deaths.
Zoonoses account for 60% of infectious diseases affecting humans. These diseases are caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Of the 1,415 pathogens known to infect humans, 61% are zoonotic.
They are spread through direct contact or though food, water, and the environment. Direct transmission from wild and farmed animals to humans is through media, such as air, or through bites and saliva. Infection can also occur via an intermediate species, referred to as a vector or carrier.

THE SILENT EPIDEMIC DURING PANDEMIC
The Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns loss of livelihoods, increase in mental disorders, inactive community social support system has compounded existing gender inequalities and increase vulnerabilities of women and girls to risk of Gender Based Violence especially r**e Intimate Partner Violence.
The rampant cases of *R**E* in our society is heartbreaking. It's mind-numbing. It's painful.
Our women and girls are no longer safe regardless of age, religion, status and position. No woman is safe. Spaces thought to be the safest (homes, schools and places of worship) are no longer safe. And this is our failure. It's just a shame. Please take the pledge and act accordingly!

Ending R**e and other forms GBV is a collective responsibility.
