WRITER'S POV
The security guard hurried in alongside Beatrice, both ready to help get Emeka to the hospital.
They stepped inside, and without hesitation, the guard rushed over to Emeka, carefully lifting him from the ground.
The security guard lifted Emeka gently, his body limp and unresponsive. Beatrice watched with trembling hands as they carefully placed him onto the couch.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she fumbled with her phone, trying to reach pastor again, tho he had assured her he was on his way already.
“We need to move quickly,” the guard said, his voice steady but urgent.
Beatrice nodded, her eyes wide with fear, she cabt afford to lose her only son. She hurriedly grabbed Eneka's car keys and signaled the guard to help carry Emeka outside.
Together, they guided him into the backseat of the car, laying him down as best they could.
As Beatrice slid into the driver’s seat, her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Her mind raced with worry, but she tried to stay calm.
She pressed her foot on the accelerator, speeding off toward the hospital.
The silence in the car was deafening, broken only by Emeka's shallow breathing. Beatrice kept glancing in the rearview mirror, praying that he would wake up before they got there.
Just then, Beatrice’s phone rang. It was Madam Cassandra calling.
She pulled over to a safe corner and slid her finger across the screen to answer.
"Hello?" Beatrice said, her voice shaky.
"Take Emmy back home," Madam Cassandra's calm yet firm voice came through. "I’m bringing a very good doctor to attend to him at home. And don’t call any pastor."
Beatrice hesitated for a moment, confused by the instructions, but responded, "Alright."
After the call ended, she made a U-turn and headed back home, her mind racing.
