44 million lives lost — and HIV is still not over. 💔

HIV remains one of the world’s biggest health challenges — here’s what you should know:

🦠 HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system and is spread from body fluids of an infected person.

🤒 Symptoms of HIV vary, some may have flu-like illness including fever, headache, rash and sore throat.

⚠️ AIDS occurs at the most advanced stage of HIV infection.

🌍 About 40.8 million people worldwide are living with HIV.

⚕️ While there’s no cure, HIV can be prevented and treated.

Reduce the risk of HIV by:
🛡️ Using condoms
🩸 Testing for HIV and other s*xually transmitted infections
✂️ Choosing medical male circumcision
💉 Getting safe help if you inject and use drugs
💊 Taking pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medicine as an additional prevention option

🙌 This World AIDS Day, let’s raise awareness of HIV and support access to prevention, treatment, and care for all.

💻 A single picture can turn into threats, stalking, impersonation, or deepfakes. Online abuse doesn’t stay online - its effects follow women into their daily lives.

🚩 Digital violence is real violence, and the harm it causes is growing fast:

🌐 Between 16% and 58% of women and girls face digital violence.
🏛 1.8 billion women and girls have no legal protection from digital violence.
⚠️ It can damage mental health, isolate women from their communities, destroy financial security, and in the most severe cases, even cost lives.

Let’s change that:
🔒 Block and report abuse
🗣️ Speak up and support survivors
💬 Post with empathy and respect

for online abuse 🙌

💔 Violence against women remains one of the world’s most pervasive human rights violations, affecting women and girls in every community, at every age.

Key concerns:
🔸 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical and/or s*xual violence in their lifetime.
🔸 The risk rises sharply during conflict, displacement, climate shocks, and poverty.
🔸 Many survivors never seek help due to stigma, fear, or lack of access to services.
🔸 It harms physical, mental, s*xual, and reproductive health and its impacts can last long after the violence stops.

🙌 Let’s raise awareness and support all women and girls in their right to live free from violence.

Antimicrobial resistance, also known as AMR, is one of the biggest global health threats of our time. 😰

🦠 AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites no longer respond to treatment, making infections harder and sometimes impossible to treat.

Key facts:
⚠️ AMR is directly responsible for 1.3 million deaths and contributes to 5 million deaths every year.
💉 Surgeries, cancer treatments and childbirth are becoming riskier than ever.
🌍 Every country is affected, but low- and middle-income regions are hit the hardest.

The good news, AMR can be prevented - we all have a role to play:

✅ Keep your hands clean
✅ Only take antibiotics when prescribed
✅ Never share antibiotics
✅ Stay up-to-date with your vaccines

🙌 Together, we can preserve the medicines that save lives.

One day, I saw a patient who presented with chronic fatigue. I took a thorough history and offered to examine her from head to toe.

When it was time to examine her chest, I was met with some resistance.

While respecting her autonomy, I explained why I needed to listen to her lungs and heart for a complete assessment.

She reluctantly exposed the upper part of her chest while using her arm to cover her breasts. I became really concerned and asked her why she was covering her breasts.

"Doctor just listen to the upper part of the lungs , or what has my breasts got to do with feeling tired?"

Again, I respectfully explained the importance of full physical examination to understand the cause of her fatigue. For example, it could be due to an infection of the lower part of her lungs.

Eventually, she exposed her entire chest. Lo and behold! I found a fungating mass in her right breast. After gentle probing, she admitted that she has had the mass for a while and a quack nurse had been dressing it for her. "It's just a boil", she added.

After further investigations, we confirmed that she has breast cancer which had spread far and wide, causing the symptoms that brought her to the clinic initially.

Dear women,

Breast cancer is treatable if detected early.
Go to your doctor if you notice any abnormal changes.
Go for your , depending on your local protocols.

Take care ladies 🩷

Breast cancer can affect anyone, but some factors increase the risk.

Who is most at risk?

👩🏻 Women account for 99% of cases, and risk increases with age, especially over 40.

📈 Factors such as obesity, alcohol use, to***co, radiation exposure, reproductive history and hormone therapy can increase risk.

🧬 Some inherited gene mutations, such as BRCA1, BRCA2 and PALB2, also raise risk.

Good news is that breast cancer is highly curable, with:

✅ Early diagnosis: recognizing symptoms, seeking timely medical advice, and ensuring prompt evaluation and treatment.

✅ Screening: using mammography in healthy women aged 50–69 to detect cancer before symptoms appear.

💗 For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, take a moment to check your breasts.
