The Future Belongs to Those Who Code It

Yesterday was World Youth Skills Day 2025, and this year's theme couldn't be more relevant: for "Youth Empowerment Through AI and Digital Skills"

At Esteemed Hub Foundation, we believe that every young person deserves access to the digital tools that will shape tomorrow's economy. But here's the reality: **74% of African youth lack basic digital literacy skills**, yet AI and technology are creating unprecedented opportunities across our continent.

We're changing that narrative. One skill at a time.

Our Impact So Far:
• 500+ young Africans trained in digital skills
• 55% job placement rate for our graduates
• 10+ AI and tech workshops delivered
• Partnerships with leading tech companies

But we're just getting started.

The digital revolution isn't coming—it's HERE. And African youth aren't just going to participate in it; they're going to LEAD it.

From coding boot camps to AI literacy programs, from entrepreneurship training to career mentorship—we're building the bridge between potential and opportunity.

Because when we empower youth with digital skills, we're not just changing individual lives. We're transforming entire communities. We're building the Africa of tomorrow.

TOMORROW: IMPACTFUL WORK IN ACTION!
The in partnership with Education as a Vaccine, is excited to share an important milestone happening TOMORROW in our ongoing AACJ project work!

Our dissemination meeting on Gender-Inclusive Disaster Preparedness and Response takes place tomorrow in Minna, Niger State - representing the kind of collaborative approach that drives real change in our communities.

When we talk about disaster preparedness, we're not just planning for emergencies - we're ensuring that women, girls, and vulnerable populations have equal access to life-saving resources and support systems. This is where research meets real-world impact!

Working alongside incredible partners like The African Women's Development and Communication Network, we're demonstrating how strategic partnerships amplify change. Together, we're not just responding to disasters - we're reshaping how communities prepare for and recover from them.

Gender-inclusive disaster response isn't just about equality - it's about effectiveness. When we include everyone in our planning, our communities become stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.

This is the heart of what we do at EstemedHub - turning research into action, partnerships into progress, and meetings into movements.Tomorrow's work continues building the resilient communities we all deserve!

Our Executive Diretor and two Foundation members attended the unveiling of the 2025 Annual Flood Outlook by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, in Abuja, presented by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev.

The report reveals that 1,249 communities across 176 Local Government Areas in 30 states and the FCT fall within high-risk flood zones this year, while an additional 2,187 communities in 293 LGAs face moderate flood risks. Key areas at risk include Abia, Benue, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Jigawa, among others.

This year's outlook introduces a groundbreaking community-based flood forecasting approach, moving beyond general predictions to provide tailored forecasts for specific communities. This enhancement directly supports our mission at Esteemed Hub, where we work with vulnerable populations in IDP camps like Gwada, teaching women disaster emergency preparedness and management.

The three core publications of the 2025 Annual Flood Outlook include flood forecasts offering detailed scenarios, flood risk communication providing actionable tools, and flood mitigation strategies outlining key measures to reduce vulnerability.

As we prepare communities for potential flooding, we recognize that early warning systems and community preparedness remain our strongest defense against flood disasters.

Today, we observe the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression - a solemn reminder that children worldwide continue to suffer from physical, mental, and emotional abuse.

As recent events in Nigeria and beyond have shown us, the impact on children extends far beyond immediate violence. Displacement, trauma, and loss of safety create lasting wounds that require our urgent attention and action.

At Esteemed Hub Foundation, we recognize that "children learn what they live, then they grow up to live what they have learned." This is why our work in community development, education, and advocacy is more critical than ever. We are committed to creating safe spaces where children can heal, learn, and thrive.

We acknowledge the pain suffered by children who are victims of aggression. We stand with survivors and demand protection, dignity, and healing for every child.

Take Action: Join us in building safer communities for children. Visit our website to learn how you can support our child protection initiatives and be part of the solution.

Today, I struggled to find words.
I sat staring at a blank screen, wrestling with how to share Esteemed Hub Foundation's work while our hearts break for Nigeria.

Over 100 lives lost to floods in Mokwa. Over 100 more taken by senseless violence in Benue State – including innocent children whose futures were stolen in the darkness of night. Their homes burned. Their dreams extinguished. Over 6,000 people now displaced, homeless, and haunted by unimaginable loss.

How do we post about hope when horror fills our headlines? How do we celebrate progress when children's bodies lie cold?

But then I remember why Esteemed Hub Foundation exists. We exist BECAUSE every life matters. We work BECAUSE the children of Benue State matter. BECAUSE the families of Guma Local Government matter. BECAUSE the people of Yelwata Community matter.

Our silence won't bring them back, but our voice can demand justice. Our work can prevent more tragedies. Our foundation can be a lighthouse in Nigeria's darkest storms.

To every family grieving: we see you. We stand with you. We will not let your loved ones be forgotten.

To our government: STOP THE KILLINGS IN BENUE STATE. Protect your people. Every Nigerian life is sacred.

This is not just a post. This is a cry from the heart of a nation that deserves better.

Today we commemorate the Day of the African Child under the powerful theme: "Planning and Budgeting for Children's Rights: Progress since 2010."

At Esteemed Hub Foundation, we recognize that meaningful change begins with intentional investment. This year's theme calls attention to the remarkable strides African Union member states have made in prioritizing children's welfare within national development frameworks.

However, our work is far from complete. Every budget allocation, every policy decision, and every strategic plan must center the voices and needs of our children. They are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are the citizens of today who deserve comprehensive protection, quality education, healthcare access, and opportunities to thrive.

As we reflect on fifteen years of progress, we recommit ourselves to ensuring that no child is left behind in Africa's development journey. The future of our continent depends on the investments we make in our children today.

MAKING WAVES FOR CLIMATE ACTION!

The Esteemed Hub Foundation was honored to participate in the groundbreaking launch of the Youth for Wind and Climate Innovation Initiative! Our Executive Director and two dedicated team members joined this transformative discourse that’s reshaping Nigeria’s clean energy future.

What made this event extraordinary:
• Brought together students, inventors, environmental activists, civil society organizations, private sector leaders, and government agencies under ONE roof
• Launched the YWCI Initiative - a game-changing national youth-led climate-energy program
• Explored how digital advocacy and entrepreneurship can drive real climate solutions

Our team actively engaged, asked critical questions, and contributed to meaningful discussions about wind energy as Nigeria’s pathway to sustainable development and economic empowerment.

Massive appreciation to the Ministry of Environment’s Department of Climate Change and the Nigeria Wind Energy Council (NWEC) for organizing this powerful platform where innovation meets action!

When young changemakers unite with strategic stakeholders, we don’t just talk about climate solutions - we CREATE them!

Every child deserves to hold a pencil, not a tool.

World Day Against Child Labour has passed, but our commitment remains unwavering. At Esteemed Hub Foundation, we champion the fundamental truth that children represent our collective future. Yet across our communities, countless young lives are being stripped of their childhood, their dreams, and their inherent right to safety and education.

**Our Active Response:*
We are implementing comprehensive community education programs focused on children's rights and protection. Our rescue and rehabilitation initiatives work directly with vulnerable children, removing them from exploitative situations and providing essential support services. Through our scholarship program, we ensure that children who should be learning remain in classrooms rather than being forced into inappropriate labor.

Their small hands were never meant to bear such heavy burdens. We invite you to join our mission by engaging with this post and sharing our message with your network.

Visit the link in our bio to learn how you can support our work or report instances of child labor in Nigeria. Together, we possess the power to transform these young lives and create lasting change.

It's Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace

This World Mental Health Day 2025, we're reminded that mental well-being starts early and extends into every space we occupy—including our future workplaces.

Last month, during our school club session, 15-year-old Sarah* shared how learning to speak up for herself in our self-esteem workshops gave her the confidence to join her school's debate team. "I used to think my voice didn't matter," she said. "Now I know it does."

When we invest in building young girls' self-esteem today, we're creating tomorrow's mentally resilient workforce. Every confidence-building exercise, every "you matter" conversation, every safe space we create ripples into their future professional lives.

At Esteemed Hub Foundation, we believe mental health advocacy begins in our communities, with our young people, preparing them for healthy relationships with work and life.

Together, let's build workplaces and communities where mental health is prioritized, valued, and protected.
