USA: NEW DEVICE TO HELP VISUALLY IMPAIRED, GETS APPROVAL

Neuralink, a company founded by Elon Musk, has received a breakthrough device designation from the FDA for its Blindsight implant, which aims to restore vision in people with severe visual impairments. The implant processes neural signals and can be used to control devices like computers or phones. Neuralink is also testing an implant that allows paralyzed patients to use digital devices with their thoughts. The company has already implanted the device in two patients, who are using it to play video games and learn 3D design. The breakthrough designation will accelerate the development and review of the Blindsight implant, but no timeline has been provided for human trials. Neuralink's technology has the potential to revolutionize treatment for various medical conditions and improve the lives of people with disabilities.
