*Psalm 30: Turnaround Encounter*

Psalm 30:11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

Oh God, I don't know how it is going to happen but I earnestly desire that as a new day breaks, I will see an entirely positive difference from what I am seeing right now. Have you ever made such an honest prayer before? I have prayed such prayers countless times without number. This prayer is birthed out of desperation in our hearts. There are times when the challenge of life comes in the form of mourning. Mourning is usually associated with a painful loss. People mourn when they lose their jobs and source of livelihood. People mourn when they are faced with terrible accidents and disasters. People mourn when they lose a loved one.

Mourning has varying signs of expressions. When people are experiencing the pains of mourning, there is usually a loud scream. Also, mourners are seen seating and sleeping on the dust or empty floor. In some cultures, ashes is rubbed on the faces of mourners. Nationally, when there is a tragic loss, the flags of the Nation are flown at half post or removed. Generally, there is a garment for mourners. Most mourners are dressed in black or dark attires, black arm/head bands, black beads or necklace. The atmosphere that is seen in the environment of mourners has a kind of mood that cannot entertain any form of joy and pleasure.

When people are engrossed in mourning, nothing makes any sense to them. The gloom covers their mind and heart. They become depressed and uninspiring. Deep down in their heart, they only have a prayer, anticipating for a turnaround encounter. They long to see the mourning days over. They long to see the mourning garments removed. They long to see every day life return to normal. After the Psalmist has encountered a shattering calamity due to his boastful pride, God accented positively to his negotiation by giving him a turnaround encounter. God turned his mourning into dancing, and removed his sackcloth of mourning and covered him with the garment of praise.

Are you grieving over something right now? Are you mourning over a loss and it is causing you so much pain? Are you covered with the mood and garment of mourners such that it is being expressed in your looks? Inspire yourself with Psalm 30:11. Speak to yourself with a renewed voice of hope: "God has turned for me my mourning into dancing; God haa put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness." Don't let this confession cease on your lips. Speak it over and over again until you see that mourning turned into celebration. Declare it until the scales, mood and garment of mourners is completely removed from your life. In this season, God will grant you a turnaround encounter that will turn your tears of sorrow, into tears of joy. Amen.

*Confession:* I declare boldly that in this new season, I am positioned for a favourable turnaround encounter. God will turn my mourning into dancing. God will turn my tears of sorrow into tears of joy. God will turn my wailings into screams of joy. God will turn my sackcloth of mourning into garments of praise. God will pick me up from the dust of mourners into the throne of celebration. It is my turnaround encounter. Hallelujah.

*Psalm 30: Negotiate With God (2)*

Psalm 30:9-10 “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!”

The power of negotiation should never be taken for granted. As a child, I learnt the act of negotiation from my Mother. One day, I followed her to the market. The seller of a particular product mentioned an amount and to the shock of my childhood, my mother negotiated a price that was unimaginably far lesser than what the seller quoted. I was shocked and I felt like it was an unfair bargain from my Mother. To my surprise, my Mother insisted on her bargain and threatened to buy from the next seller if she was unwilling to sell at her bargained amount. As I was about to tell my Mum that her bargain was totally unfair to the price that the seller mentioned, I saw the seller wrapping the product for my Mum at her negotiated price.

The economy of life is built on negotiation. Most of the things you buy in life are acquired through negotiation. Most of the services that are rendered in life are serviced through negotiation. Even peace among waring parties is achieved at the table of negotiation. It is a natural occurrence on earth for things to come at an escalated price. But with the act of negotiation, it will be deescalated to the bearest minimum. In most court sessions, after the hearings from both parties, and the accused has pleaded guilty as charged, the attorney will always conclude his case with a plea for justice to be tampered with mercy.

The Psalmist saw the anger of God towards him. He saw the back of God because the Lord left him since he was boasting in his self sufficiency. In the middle of this pain, he did not lose his voice of negotiation. He reminded God that there is no glory in his falling. If his life is shattered and in ruins, there is no testimony. If eventually he dies, his death will not bring praise to God because only the living can praise God. He came to God with presentable reasons why God should not treat him as much as he deserved but in accordance to His praise and honour. God honoured his negotiation and made a twist about His initial judgment concerning him.

At every point in your life, there is always a table of negotiation. If they have decided to run you out of your job, career and business, return to the table of negotiation. If your marriage is hitting the rock bottom with symptoms of being shattered, return to the table of negotiation. Are you faced with wars and internal crises with families and friends, return to the table of negotiation. Remember, the economy of life is built on negotiation. The economy of the situation that you are faced with right now can also be managed through negotiation. Use your power of negotiation. Talk your way through it. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, grant me the grace and wisdom to learn how to negotiate when and where neccessary. May my mouth not be closed at important moments in my life that required negotiation. Help me to negotiate my way through the path of success. Teach me the way to negotiate through the judgment. Show me the right way to negotiate in the path of life. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 30: Negotiate With God*

Psalm 30:9-10 “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!”

One important life skills that believers must develop and use effectively is the act of negotiation. In any condition that you have found yourself, always learn how to negotiate for an advantage. Don't let the chapter close without any form of attempting a negotiation. Whenever I read court's judgement, no matter how terrific it sounds, someone can still have a way of negotiating something beautiful out of it. This is why most of the court's rulings are subject to appeals. These appeals are developed by lawyers who read the notes of the rulings with a possibility of negotiating something favourable out of it.

The Bible encourages God's children to always negotiate. The Prophet Isaiah declares in Isaiah 41:21 “Present your case,” says the Lord. “Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob. Job presented his strong reasons before the Lord during the time of his trials. The most unlikeliest person who had no reason to negotiate anything with God and man was Cain. Cain was the first person to be associated with murder in the Bible. He killed his brother in cold blood after luring him into a walk in the park. His anger against God and envy against his brother led to the murder of Abel.

The Lord became angry against Cain and made the pronouncement: And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth (Genesis 4:10-12).” In the heart of every man, this punishment is justified. You can't kill your innocent brother and expect to live a blessed life.

This is the twist in this story. Cain acknowledged the punishment that was melted out on him. But he also remembered that he has a right to appeal. And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear! Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me (Genesis 4:13-14).” However, God honoured his right of appeal. And the Lord said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him. Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden (Genesis 4:15-16).

The Psalmist presented his negotiation to God when God punished him for relying on empty boast. He said: “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!” Son of Grace, how are you presenting your case before God today? When they have concluded on you that you deserve the judgement, look out for your strong reason. Don't close that chapter yet. Negotiate it with God. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Father Lord, I present my case to you this day. I know I have been judged and condemned. I know many have concluded that I don't deserve your mercy. But I come to you this day with my strong reason. For every judgement that has been made against me, I appeal with the precious blood of Christ Jesus, who loved me and shed his blood for the appropriation of my sins. I come to your throne of mercy in the name of Jesus who has become my advocate. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

*Psalm 30: Tell It To God*

Psalm 30:8 I cried out to You, O Lord; And to the Lord I made my supplication.

Evangelism has exposed me to different categories of people. There are men and women who would sincerely open up their hearts and ask some questions that are related to their real life actions. There was a man who narrated his story on how he needed instant vengeance and thus, had to consult a witch doctor. He was falsely accused of something he never did. As a church goer, people advised him to pray about it. But, after much contemplation within him, he decided to go the other way to seek instant vengeance. When I asked him what motivated him to do so, he simply responded that if he decided to put it to God in prayer, he might never get the desired response that he needed urgently.

This is no longer about the man. It is about the state of our hearts dear reader. There are many of us today who think that God is too slow in answering our prayers and supplications. There are many of us today who are battling with faithlessness in our prayers. We pray just to fulfill all religiosity. But we don't even trust God to answer our prayers. When we need solutions to our problems, we already have a template of alternatives to consult. This is why false prophets and churches are trending and increasing. As long as we have a camouflage in the form of church to give instant answers to our demands, we are satisfied with it, irrespective of the means.

The Psalmist says: "I cried out to You, O Lord; And to the Lord I made my supplication." The tears of my heart are directed to the Lord. The pains that I pass through, the hardships, persecutions, false accusations, conspiracies, and ill vices that I face, I direct all my tears to God. All my prayers, my petitions, intercession, and supplications, are also directed to the Lord. There is so much wisdom in doing so. It takes a man who has seen the future to guide you into your future. Many of the solutions that we seek urgently today, can only satisfy us today, but will eventually end up in jeopardizing and mortgaging our futures.

God might appear slow to your desired answer to your prayers but always remember that God does not operate with your clock. God knows the best response to every of your petition. Even before you asked, He already knew what you are passing through. Whenever I reflect on the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus said, leave them, let them grow together until the harvest. This is because, He knew the quality of the wheat, He knew the potential of the tares, and He is sure of the outcome of the harvest. When God seems silent about your petition, He knows everything about you, He knows everything about your challenge, and He has already seen the outcome in the future. So trust Him, and bring your petitions to Him alone. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, to you alone I direct my cries and petitions. I know you are able to meet every demands of my heart. In my quest for instant answers and vengeance, don't let me fall into the error of seeking alternatives outside your will for my life. Grant me the faith to believe that you alone are sufficient for all the answers to my petitions. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 30: Beware of Empty Boasts (2)*

Psalm 30:6-7 When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” Your favor, O Lord, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.

O Son of man, thou shalt not boast in your strength. Let this commandment echo and re-echo in your mind until it becomes part of your subconscious being. The Bible has warned us not to become boasters of ourselves. Paul the Apostle used the word boast more than any other writer in the scriptures. He used the word in two forms. First, he used the word as a form of admonition to warn against the emptiness that follows boasting in oneself. Secondly he used the word to describe his boasting about the things that he suffered for the sake of the gospel. Hence, his boasting was not about self elation but about the humiliation that most people would do every thing possible to cover.

God detests a boastful heart. Especially when one is feeling overly secured due to material accomplishment. When the Philistines presented their warlord named Goliath against the Israelites, the Bible recorded that every morning Goliath would stand on the plains and boast against the Israelites army. This is because, he was a man of strength and great physique. His weapons were highly graded such that the weights were noted. Third, he was rated as the strongest warlord in the entire region. With this profile and pedigree, you can imagine the boastful utterances that would come out of his lips against the Israelites.

God will always shatter the plans and desires of a boastful heart. The death of Goliath is one of the most humiliating deaths in Bible story. A warlord that was reckoned as the strongest, most skilled and experienced, was killed by a teenager who has no formal military training, and has never been involved in any war. To make the humiliation even worse, he was brought down by a sling and a stone, a weapon that is mostly used to scare off birds. The Psalmist declared that: "when I was prosperous, I boasted that nothing can stop me now." Immediately, the presence of God left him, and he crashed like a pack of cards.

There are many persons today who are still boasting about themselves as being unstoppable. Learn from Goliath. Your strength is never your security. Your money is not your power. Your beauty is not your identity. Your influence is not your authority. Your connection is not your anchor. To put your boast in any of these is like building your house with ice. When the heat of life comes, you will end up being homeless. Today, renew and relearn your vocabulary. Any utterance that is full of self, pride, and boasting about self, let it be eliminated. Let your words be filled with grace empowerment and absolute dependence on God. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Preserve my lips O Lord from the language of boasters. Save me from the destruction that comes upon those who boast in their strength and power. Do not withdraw from me the favour and grace that you have bestowed upon the saint. May I never take for granted the blessings that you have given me through your favour and grace. Help me to make my boast in your favour, grace and honour. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 30: Beware of Empty Boasts*

Psalm 30:6-7 When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” Your favor, O Lord, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.

I really feel it is an act of active ignorance for anyone to be involved in boasting. Boasting especially about material and natural things is a waste of strength. This is because, these things are naturally subject to the demands of nature and hence they experience wear and tear. Most ladies boast with their flamboyant and elegant beauty, but they fail to realize that beauty fades like the evening rose. Most men boast about their strength and agility. They fail to realize that the muscle loses its power and rigidity as age advances. Whatever forms the backdrop of your boast today, has the tendency of losing its potential tomorrow.

Growing up, there was a boastful civil servant that I nicknamed "Pension." He was a top civil servant of the federal government. Apart from boasting about his large monthly salary and allowances, he will always boast even to his family that once he retires, he is entitled to his pension. His emphasis was always on his pension. He will always say that his future life is secured because the government will pay his pension which is enough for himself alone. Due to his emphasis on pension and the security of his future based on the pension, and his plans of enjoying the pension alone, made me to nickname him as 'Pension.'

God was marvellously gracious to him and he retired and got his gratuity. Without delay, the pension started coming in. But the economic reality of the time has made his almighty life saving pension to become an economic lilliput. Recently, 'Pension' could not afford even his medical bills. I looked at him with a heart of pity, and whispered to myself: where is the pension? This is what the Psalmist is opening our heart to learn from him today. He remembered the days of his prosperity, how he boasted and said: "nothing can stop me now." But he failed to acknowledge the fact that it was God who prospered him. He boasted in his financial security without acknowledging God as his source.

Many of us today are still guilty of this empty boast. One moment of our lives, we are seeking God's help, favour and blessings with enthusiasm and humility. Then God grants to us our heart desires. We become wealthy, strong, influencial and powerful. Then suddenly, we begin to boast in our own selves and sufficiency without acknowledging God. When God removes His hand from your life, you will become shattered and emptied. Guard your heart from empty boastings. Others can, but for you son of God's favour, don't join them. Always remember that without God, you are nothing and empty. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, grant me the grace to restrain my heart and lips from empty boasting. When the spirit of pride wants to overwhelm my mind, grant me the discipline to close my lips. Whenever pride and boast want to dominate my life, cause me to remember that you own the air that I breathe. Help me to consciously remember to acknowledge you behind every success in my life. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalmspiration – Start Your Day With Psalm*

*Psalm 30: Good Morning Joy (2)*

Psalm 30: 5 for his anger endures but for a moment, in his favour is Life. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

I may not know the origin of the greeting word "good morning". But I think it is more than its routine usage as a form of greeting. It is a prophetic declaration into one's day. It is your ability to look intently into your day with your eyes of faith and positive affirmation, to speak forth into your life. You don't need to wait for your spouse, friend, children or relatives to tell you good morning before you can speak it. You can wake up early in the morning and speak it to yourself. You don't need to consult with your mood about the events that transpired in the night or about the present situation of things in your life before you speak it. Wake up in the morning, look at yourself and declare boldly "its all good morning".

You must understand that your morning does not begin at sunrise, neither does it begin at when you wake up. Whenever it is midnight, I usually observe the clock between the 11th hour and 12th hour. It is so fascinating to see the PM change to AM. Whenever the AM appears, I speak a word of gratitude to God and declare to myself, good morning. It is still dark in the environment, but one thing is sure, it's already a new morning. When the Bible says weeping last for the night, it is not telling us to wait till sunrise before the joy will come. It takes a deep understanding into spiritual realities for one to know that even in the dark, the morning joy can come.

Ecclesiastes 3, gave a clear understanding about the time and seasons that rule human life. Specifically, it mentioned a time for mourning and a time for rejoicing. This should guide us as people of faith. Weeping does not last forever. Even in human culture in different places, there is a specific time limit for the mourning of a bereaved individual. When the mourning days are fulfilled, everything is expected to return to normal. One thing that the time and season does not permit, is the occurrence of both mourning and joy at the same time. When the night brings tears, don't allow it enter into the morning joy.

This is another day. Get your good morning right. Stop making it a religious tradition. Make it a prophetic declaration. Don't allow your mood to lie to you. Don't even believe in the circumstances that is becoming visible to dampen your mood. There is something glorious, magnificent, charming, reviving and invigorating about your new morning. Wake up each day and accept it with a bold declaration of "good morning." Remind yourself that Psalm 35 has declared: "for his anger endures but for a moment, in his favour is Life. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning." This morning anticipate and experience the fullness of joy in your life. Hallelujah.

*Confession:* As I wake up this day, I declare boldly - good morning joy, good morning peace, good morning favour, good morning success, good morning prosperity, good morning healing, good morning hope, good morning blessing, good morning breakthrough, good morning miracles, good morning Mercy, good morning love, good morning life. This is the day that the Lord has made, I choose intentionally to be joyful and joy-filled. Hallelujah.

*Psalm 30: Good Morning Joy*

Psalm 30: 5 for his anger endures but for a moment, in his favour is Life. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

Whenever we pass through hell and waves, sleep and rest become lost. Especially in the middle of the night. The human mind recreates the negative episodes that have occured in one's life and put it on replay mode. The more it plays in our heads and minds, the longer the tears at night. Pillows get drenched. Eyes bulges and gets toned. The bones get weakened. This is as a result of weeping every night. When this feelings last longer than usual, it builds up into depression. Most persons who are involved with episodes of depression have stories of long nights that are completely indescribable.

The night represent a season of untold trials, perils, tribulations and persecution. The weeping night is also a season of defeat, shame and ridicule. Everyone must have encountered weeping nights at different times. Paul and Silas had a terrible night experience at one moment in their life. They were accused falsely by a prominent man whose maid has been delivered from familiar spirit. Because his false enterprise was affected, he instigated the people against Paul and Silas. They were stripped naked, flogged in the market place and kept in a dark prison. In the middle of the night, when the mind was supposed to be crippled with flashbacks of the day's humiliation, Paul and Silas turned the jail into an exuding arena of praise.

Someone today is battling with the night of trials and pains. Someone is weeping every night over an opportunity that was abused and missed. Someone is regretting uncontrollably over a mistake that is irredeemable. Someone cannot be consoled because of an irreplaceable loss. Someone is hiding an untold story that is too painful and burdensome to share, and weeps over it every night. Someone is still nursing a hurt without any sign of relief. Someone is still musing over an unpredicted false accusation and is still in bewilderment every night. Every night, the mind keeps musing over the pain, loss and shame.

The good news today proclaims that no matter how long a night is, dawn of a new day is always beckoning. Don't lose hope in your long nights. Be rest assured that dawn is coming. The dawning of a new day at sunrise will put darkness to flight. The dew of the morning will evaporate the heats of the night. The sound of the morning breeze will bring refreshing to the exhausted human body. The melody of the morning bird will bring a new rhythm of joy and hope to the depressed mind. Take courage saints, when the night is darkest, Know that the dawn of a new day is close. Anticipate a joyful morning. Joy comes this morning. Hallelujah

*Confession:* My night of weeping is over. My night of sorrow and regrets are over. My night of agony, pain and shame are over. My morning of joy has come. I declare boldly that although weeping might linger for a night, the dawn of new day comes with my fresh breathe of joy. I will bask in the euphoria of this joy. The. Joy of the Lord will continually be my strength. Glory to God.

*Psalm 30: Out Of The Pit*

Psalm 30:3 You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

There is a difference between the grave and pit. The grave is usually covered while the pit is left open. The grave represents the final terminal of life while the pit represents one of the avenues that can lead to death. Those who are dead are kept/buried in the grave while those who are alive can be found in the pit. Both the grave and the pit are satanic and demonic stronghold that are used to inflict afflictions and attacks on God's people. This is why God is always at work in the life of His people, by offering them deliverance and escape out of the grave and pit of death.

In the Old Testament, when God was instructing Moses to write out the moral laws for the Israelites, one of the key laws was in connection with uncovered pits. Infact there are laid down rules of engagement that must be followed if anyone has an uncovered pit that led to the destruction of another animal or life. When a pit is left uncovered, it is death trap. Many lives have been lost because of this kind of accident. In ancient times, during wars, digging of pits was also a strategy of trapping the opponents. In spiritual realities, the pit is also a trap that cages and kills spiritual life.

The most painful thing about the pit experience is that it is full of pains, struggles, complete exhaustion before death comes in. Joseph was full of life, health, strength and positive motivation to life. Before he could realize it, his own brothers threw him into a dried pit with a certainty that he was going to die. In the pit, his own strength amounted to nothing. His voice could no longer be heard. He is active enough to realize that this was a sure pathway to death. The pain is the fact that there is absolutely nothing that he can do to save himself. This is the traumatic experience that most people pass through when they fall into the pit.

The Psalmist declares this day that God kept him from falling into the pit of death. And the assurance is that, if God kept him, the same God will keep the elect from falling into the pit of death. This is why we must know God and trust Him obediently. There are diverse kinds of pits in our paths of life. There are times that God will prevent us from falling into it through delay, disappointment or even a drastic change. We should trust God enough to know that God works for our best interest and thus, follow Him obediently.

Friends, do not be ignorant about satanic pits. Those who fall into the pit of death are only a step away from their graves. Those who are led by the Lord are preserved from falling into the pit of death. And if by happenstance, they fall into the pit, God has a redemptive plan of delivering them out of the pit of death and taking them to the pinnacle of their success. The pit is not your home neither is it your destination. The God of grace will take you through every pit that has been set to trap you and your family in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Confession:* I am preserved from the pit of death. I am delivered from the pit that was set to destroy me. The same hand of grace that rescued Joseph out of the dried pit, will rescue me out of the pit of death. God's word has declared that those who dig the pit, will surely be swallowed by the pits that they have dug. I affirm this confession in my life and family. I have escaped and delivered from the pit of death. Hallelujah.
