CATARACT:
Clouding of the eye’s lens
Causes blurry or hazy vision
Usually develops slowly with age

GLAUCOMA:
Damage to the optic nerve (often from high eye pressure)
Can lead to permanent vision loss if untreated
Often has no early symptoms, called the “silent thief of sight”

Your hands carry bacteria and germs. Rubbing your eyes can transfer them directly to your eyes, increasing the chance of infections like conjunctivitis.

2️⃣ Corneal Damage
Frequent rubbing can scratch or weaken the cornea, the clear layer protecting your eye.
This may lead to pain, blurred vision, or more serious eye problems.

3️⃣ Keratoconus Risk
Keratoconus is a condition where the cornea thins and bulges.
Eye rubbing is a major contributing factor, especially in people prone to it.

✅High eye pressure
Elevated pressure inside the eye is a major risk factor for developing glaucoma.
