I recently started a study about menarche and engaged a conversation with few friends , to know what they do think about menarche...
The experience of menarche is also known as the first menstrual bleeding, and it's a significant event in the lives of girls worldwide.
It's a beautiful yet terrifying experience.
A two sided case.
For some, it was blissful because they waited and were happy that they had finally began the process of growing and becoming a woman.
While for some, it was horrific, they never expected it because they knew nothing about it🤷‍♀️ , they were stigmatized because they had no background knowledge about periods, they faced bullying, period poverty as a result of family poverty,,, in extension, making them use unhygienic products for periods and causing infections and the likes, not too forget that they were as well stigmatized 😔
Basic education about periods and the concept of menstruation is important in the lives of every girl child.
School to school!! Educating young girls about periods is what we do .
You too can 🤗 by being a sponsor ❤

Every girl has the right to accurate information about her body. In Nigeria gender inequality, discriminatory social norms, cultural taboos, poverty and lack of basic services often cause girls’ and women’s menstrual health and hygiene needs to go unmet.

As in many other countries within the region, there is a long tradition of viewing menstruation as 'impure'. The story talks about a girl who has suffered from discrimination at her school, the hazards she went through and the reality behind these situations.

In the villages across Nigeria there is the conception that if a menstruating woman touches sowing seeds, the harvest will not be abundant; that a woman must not braid her sister's hair during menstruation, otherwise she will induce hair loss; that menstruation is a woman’s business and that a man must not talk about it — these are just some of the numerous rumors about menstrual health and hygiene that tend to stigmatize women and girls.

Educating secondary school girls is one of the things we hope to achieve this year with your help❤
You too can drive this move by being a sponsor ❤

Woke up this morning with the urge to share a story I had read about a couple of months ago ☺
So there was this young girl who just started seeing her periods for the first time , she was from a rural community (they usually are not enlightened when it comes to menstruation), it came out while she was in school but when she got home, she asked her mother what could be used to absorb the flow and her mother's response was this "there is actually something people use but we cannot afford it, not when we have to feed you and your brothers" So this young girl decided to use leaves 🍂but it didn't do justice so she settled on pieces🙀
A couple of months later, she had washed her usual pieces and left outside to dry of..... The next morning she wore it and was off to. School🎒📚 getting to the school gate she felt an unbearable pain beneath her abdomen so she was immediately rushed to the hospital🏥, she died even before she got to the hospital gates😞 the doctors later discovered that a deadly insect had penetrated her , when asked... Her mum told this painful story 😩
Women and girls in rural communities have little or no knowledge on menstruation and it's hygienic practices, hence they find it hard to take care of themselves, they have no access to period products and are faced with period poverty thereby making them venerable to different sicknesses and diseases😷.
You can help a girl child escape period poverty even as we enter into a new year and can also support the move of educating these women and girls on menstruation.
Let's put a smile on the faces of these girls, they shouldn't have to pick from either food or period products!!!

This project is doable with your help🥰

What is period poverty?? 🤔
Period poverty is defined as the inadequate access to menstrual hygiene tools and education.
Quite a number of young girls and women find themselves in this predicament 😟
Did you also know that in some communities, young girls and women frequently share their sanitary towels which are typically pieces of fabrics.
In addition, they thoroughly wash the towels and pieces in between uses, although sharing can still spread venerable illnesses.
By giving menstrual products and contributing funds to buy these necessary supplies for these women and girls, we can stop this from happening even as we enter into a new year☺
Imagine entering into the new year with more understanding about their periods and how it works and also having complete access to period products and other necessary body products.
To be a part of this move, you can either
1. Send a bag of pads
2. Send a pack of roll-on
3. Send in towels and panties
4. Send donations into 👇

Menstruation is a very important sector in the life of a female.......
While most persons thinks it's what they have to go through in order to conceive, others think it's an health cycle, hence they know how to manage it, hygienic practices so as to avoid offensive odours and infections.........

So how about women on the street??? Girls in rural communities... That has been stigmatized with menstruation??? These women and girls have no knowledge on menstruation hence they cannot adequately take care of themselves during this time of the month, they have no access to period products there by making them vulnerable to infections.
So yes!!! Even as we'd be crossing into a new year, with more goals and more achievements.... Let's also cross into the new year with the excitement that we've touched the lives of these women and girls by gifting them with period products, roll on and other necessities, most importantly we'll be educating them on menstruation .
Join this move by donating;
*A pack of pad
*roll on
*bunch of towels
*wipes
