Mavis Health

Mavis Health Using the power of education to help save lives of women of childbearing age and their newborns using our e-HEAL Kits. This way, the whole family benefits.

Our e-HEAL (Electronic Health Education in Any Language) Kits will provide vital health information in the local languages that the women of child bearing age in rural communities in Nigeria will understand. The users simply turn on the Mavis Pen™ and then tap on the colourfully illustrated pages of the Talking Books™ to hear the instruction on steps to follow to care for themselves (mothers/mothers-to-be) and children in Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, etc. Optionally, the women can also use the same Mavis Pen™ to acquire basic education. This option is also available to their children, who can use the same pen to acquire quality basic education (literacy and numeracy). Reports from the NDHS 2013 Survey show the significant role education plays in enabling women better care for themselves and their newborns and have a better chance of survival. Our eHEAL Kits are designed to use education to help save lives.

Conducted a training yesterday for the NGO team that will be deploying our e-HEAL Talking Posters "Reducing Maternal & Child Mortality Series" (Hausa & English versions) in state. Nigeria loses close to 1million women and children under the age of 5 each year. Our goal is to provide them with life saving information in a language they understand to better care for themselves and their newborns. We have big plans for this and are really excited to commence this pilot rollout. Special thanks to Private Sector Health Alliance for the funding and support to make this possible

Today, one of our old clients came by the office. He went to our display shelf and noticed that our catalogue of Talking Books had increased. He spotted the new health Talking Books and asked to know more about it. During the conversation he mentioned how sad he and the wife felt when they lost their baby 5 weeks into the pregnancy. He decided on the spot to buy two complete sets of the Mavis Pens and the e-HEAL Talking Books in the "Reducing Maternal and Child Mortality Series". He said he'll use a set with his wife at home so she would be able to learn most of what she needs to know to ensure the next delivery goes well. He also mentioned that it'll reduce her need to go for so many antenatal classes - as she'll be able to learn a whole lot with the Talking Books from the comfort of their home. The second set was a gift 🎁 for a relative in Port Harcourt. He also got some of the education & language series for learning English, Maths, Igbo, Hausa, French as gifts for his nephews and the David & Goliath Bible Storybook (a step of faith for the baby 👶 they're expecting). We're glad that what we do helps bring hope to families 👪 and can help save lives of mothers and their newborns.

This song right here is one of the best sounds I've heard this year. "Baba Yetu" is a song by composer Christopher Tin. It was sung by Ron Ragin and the Soweto Gospel Choir. The song is the Lord's prayer in Swahili. Listening to this sound gives me chills and brings to mind the joys and the thought of how wonderful heaven would be - singing God's praises forevermore and singing about His various names and about His glory and splendour in many languages and tongues and with instruments with the most amazing sounds we can only imagine now. Lord, let your kingdom come.
