Boost your next business event with wellness activities!

Here are some wellness activities that you can incorporate to your business event for a more creative and productive outcome!

1. Offer outdoor activities

Offer a refreshing break outside of your event such as nature walks, outdoor fitness classes, or activities like yoga or dancing. This will give your attendees a breath of fresh air which can lower their stress and boost mental health. Given that you have a limited time, you can bring the ‘outside in’ by using water features and natural materials like bamboo, wood and stone – and, of course, indoor plants which will also help improve air quality inside your venue.

2. Provide a healthy food option

Providing a range of tasty and healthy food and drink options can really boost everyone’s mood and well-being. High-quality food is crucial for a successful event with energized attendees. Ensuring plenty of water is available and infusing it with natural flavors like cucumber, lemon, or mint can make hydration more appealing and help improve energy and concentration.

3. Include alternatives to alcohol

Alcohol can be a big part of events, but too much can lead to poor decisions and disruptive behavior. To keep things professional, consider offering quality mocktails and non-alcoholic beers and spirits to encourage attendees to choose alcohol-free options.

4. Create quiet spaces

Quiet spaces are valuable for everyone, especially those who are neurodivergent. Equip these areas with comfy seating, noise-cancelling headphones, calming colors, soothing music, and natural light. Soft furnishings help absorb sound. Add ‘digital detox zones’ to encourage breaks from screens, and offer mindfulness activities like meditation or deep breathing to boost relaxation.

Struggling to stay engaged and focused in every conference session? We've got you covered!

The following techniques will boost your focus, make sure you remember information better, and actively participate.

1. Minimal Digital Detox

It's tempting to check your phone, but every time you switch tasks, your brain loses focus and valuable information. To stay engaged, try putting your device on focus mode and placing it out of reach. This way, you can fully absorb the information and maximize your learning potential.

2. Two tricks to avoid falling asleep

If you feel your eyes getting heavy, try sitting up straight and taking deep belly breaths. Use your diaphragm to pull air into your midsection without lifting your shoulders, and then slowly exhale. Repeat until you feel more alert.

Another simple trick is the ear-massaging technique. Pinch the top of your ear between your forefinger and thumb, and rub your fingers back and forth as you move down the edge of your ear. You can do one ear or both. This increases blood flow to your head, making you feel more awake.

3. Keeping your mind from wandering

Our attention span is just 8 seconds, even shorter than a goldfish’s! It’s normal for your mind to wander; it can even be a sign of intelligence as your brain searches for stimulation. To stay on track, start with a productive mindset, doodle, or use a stress ball to keep your brain engaged without distraction. Avoid loud fidgeting that might bother others.

5 ways to energize your event attendees
We prepared some strategies for re-energizing attendees both mentally and physically throughout the event.

1. Dynamic seating arrangements

Encourage movement and comfort with innovative seating options. Let everyone stand, use skippy balls like did at their event, or incorporate high-low seating arrangements. These setups keep energy levels up and promote a lively atmosphere.

2. Plan fun group (wellness) activities

Group activities can be a great way for attendees to connect with each other. Help attendees recharge by offering some wellness activities. Think of something fun, like an Energy Session where all happy hormones will be activated, a 5k run, or a Good Vibes Music Challenge.

3. Make your presentations interactive

Keep people interested by using interactive elements. Try live polling or gamification to get instant feedback or host a social media Q&A to get the audience involved. These activities help keep everyone engaged and make your sessions more dynamic.

4. Offer some free time

Balance is key. Don’t start sessions too early, and allow some free time for attendees to explore the destination, catch up on work, or enjoy the hotel’s spa facilities. A well-rested attendee is an engaged attendee.

5. Offer nutricious food and healthy snacks

Everyone needs a little boost during the day. Ensure your overall food and beverage offerings, including lunch and coffee breaks, are nutritious and energizing. Provide healthy snacks to keep attendees satisfied between meals, and consider including a little to-go bag for them to nibble during the breaks.

These tips could help your attendees maintain energy and enthusiasm throughout your event, making sure everyone has a great time from beginning to end.

Ever feel like you miss half of what’s said at a business event? 🧐 Taking notes helps you focus, retain more, and actually use what you’ve learned later—if your notes make sense, of course!

The Cornell Method is one of the effective methods to take notes effectively. Imagine your notebook as a recipe book with three sections: keywords, notes, and a summary.

Keywords are like ingredients—quickly jot down the main topics or questions.

Notes are the instructions—dive into details, examples, and explanations.

Summary is the final dish—wrap up what you learned, key takeaways, and next steps.

It takes just a few minutes, but the memory boost is totally worth it!

Post-event networking is important for strengthening connections, making new contacts, staying memorable, continuing discussions, discovering opportunities, getting feedback, and building lasting relationships.

To maximize your networking experience after an event, here are 3 tips to help you make lasting and fruitful connections:

1. Following up with a personalized message after the event is key; refer to a detail from your conversation, share a useful article, or propose a time for a follow-up meeting or call.

2. Send a connection request on LinkedIn or follow them on Twitter/Instagram. Once connected, interact with their posts by liking, commenting, or sharing. This helps keep the relationship warm and shows that you’re interested in staying engaged.

3. Share a quick post or blog about your top takeaways from the event, what you found inspiring, and how you’ll apply what you learned. Be sure to tag the people you met and the event organizers to keep the conversation alive!

Here are 3 quick and easy tips to help you recharge when you are preparing for an event:

1. Take 10 square breaths (inhale for 5, hold for 5, exhale for 5, and hold for 5). This is to reduce stress, improve focus, balance emotions, enhance relaxation and boost oxygen flow to the brain and body.

2. Practice the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds). This rule reduces eye strain, dryness, and fatigue. It also encourages better posture during extended screen time.

3. List 3 accomplishments to shift your perspective and boost your spirit. This will also help you be more motivated to continue in all the busy hustle and bustle of event preps.

Networking during events can be highly beneficial for professional growth and building valuable connections.

To maximize your networking opportunities, here are 3 tips during events to help you make great connections:

Networking breaks at conferences are a great way to meet new people, share ideas, and grow your professional circle. These breaks let you connect with others in a relaxed setting, making it easier to build relationships and discover new opportunities. By making the most of these breaks, you can get more out of the conference and work towards your goals.

Share your expertise on relevant topics, offer useful information that might benefit them, or provide assistance in any way you can. By being generous with your knowledge and support, you not only make a positive impression but also lay the foundation for strong and lasting connections. By doing so, you can establish yourself as a valuable contact and foster relationships that can lead to future opportunities.

Participate actively in Q & A sessions, join panel discussions, and engage in group conversations. By asking thoughtful questions, share your insights, and offering your perspective, you can showcase your expertise and make yourself stand out. This not only highlights your knowledge but also opens up opportunities for meaningful connections with speakers and other attendees.
