THE YOGA THERAPY CONFERENCE was founded by Anneke Sips in 2015 and the upcoming event in 2019 marks its 4rd edition. Anneke is a Dutch RN psychiatry and yoga therapist (C-IAYT).
I am bridging yoga and (mental-) healthcare and started this movement in 2010 which grew into a large Network – first in the Netherlands – that quickly grew into Europe and the world. A Network of like-minded people: Network Yoga Therapy.
This Network became a platform where we meet (online and in person) to learn, reflect and collaborate. A Network of professionals in yoga and healthcare.
THE CONFERENCE a yearly meet-up for people with similar interests. People who wants to make a difference, who know that change in systems is inevitable and who get excited about playing a role in that.
It's a recognition, a celebration of the work we do. All in our own way, big or small, we are adding pieces to a more conscious and healthy future for the next generations to come.
Hooray to that!
This event forms a cornerstone of a larger vision. A vision of consciousness and health for the future generation. A vision of connecting, collaboration, friendship.
For who?
This is for you, who cares: If you are a yoga teacher,- or therapist. A nurse, a doctor, a physiotherapists or any other therapists and off course for researchers as well. People who wish to bring yoga into healthcare or other systems: Therapeutically.
The program will be stimulating and diverse, exploring the topic of Human Connection from different perspectives, as you are used from us.
We explore the (neuro-) biology, the yogic, the science/ medical and other therapeutic points of view as well the client perspective.
You'll be able to attend special ‘Conference’ therapeutic yoga classes in the city, reflect on yoga therapy research and practice. Meet dr Stephan Porges (USA) who dives into his polyvagal theory (fight, flight and freeze, you know) and yogic concepts (gunas) with Marlysa Sulivan. We explore the role of oxytocin with dr Sue Carter (another amazing professor from USA) and yoga therapist Lisa Kaley Isley (UK), dr Ganesh Mohan will present and much much more for you to get totally inspired!
You’ll participate in a panel discussion and like every year, there will be surprises and plenty of networking opportunities. It’s all about curiosity, questions, connecting, allow yourself to think different, finding common ground, co-create and have a good time with your Network as well!
Amsterdam
We choose locations that are spacious, beautiful and connecting. The conferences takes place in Amsterdam. An international hub, easy to reach, with character and charm. Besides a bubbling yoga community there is an unique variety of shops, (organic) restaurants, cafes, museums and attractions.
In 2019, the yearly meeting of the Global Consortium on Yoga Therapy will also take place in Amsterdam (right after the Yoga Therapy Conference), so expect even more world-leaders of change gathering together for this event.
