AHF is a global organization working in 48 countries, providing high-quality HIV care and support to over 2 million clients worldwide. With more than 7,500 dedicated employees, we get the work done: every day, everywhere.
At AHF, we believe that exchanging experiences and approaches across regions helps us grow as an organization and continuously improve our services.
Recently, our AHF Europe Bureau Advocacy Manager, Tamara Prinsenberg, PhD, visited AHF programs in 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮, and 𝗥𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮. During the visit, she engaged with staff at 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀 (sexual health clinics), 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 (HIV testing sites), and other program sites: learning from their work.
An especially inspiring moment was spending a day with the 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁 program in 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗮, 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮, where she joined the girls in their activities. Girls Act empowers girls and young women aged 10–24 to stay healthy and thrive. As a girl-led initiative, it builds leadership, confidence, and strong peer support among its members.
Tamara also had the privilege of participating in a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 organized by 𝗔𝗛𝗙 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 in 𝗞𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 to discuss gender-based violence and other challenges faced by the community. It was a powerful gathering that brought together imams, pastors, peer educators, women-group representatives, people with disabilities, village leaders, and police representatives to openly discuss issues and search for solutions together.
These meaningful exchanges are a testament to what makes AHF unique: a commitment to listening, learning, and acting—together.
