My true comfort and calling has always been in the creation of something new. I used to be a very dreamy child, from a very young age I already had a big imagination and loved to make little projects. When I was 17 I learned how to sew, how to draw sewing patterns and how to knit. With that knowledge, I taught myself to transfer sewing patterns to knitting patterns. Time always passes by really quickly when I am in the process of designing or creating anything new. My focus is always entirely on the idea that I want to bring to life, and I am extremely excited to share my designs with you.
If last year I was told that my near future held both an open heart surgery and a platform to put forward my art, and my business idea out to the world, I would have dismissed it entirely. Creating a brand always felt like a distant dream that was too far to realize, too hard to achieve and too scary to even think of. Things do change after a big surgery, it is like that huge turning point in life which gives you more perspective. You realize the fragility of life and the time that you have, and you know that you have to make the most of this time. You learn to love the smallest things you hold dear, you learn to pursue things that make you happy. That is exactly what I am doing with 'Twined Dreams', it gives me a new sense of energy, empowerment and needless to say, unbound happiness.
In 2013 I made my very first dreamcatcher, I was looking for something unique for my house but was not quite satisfied with the designs in the market. I decided to take charge of this dissatisfaction and create my own piece of art, which is how my very first, big white dreamcatcher came into being. Since then I fell in love with the technique and have been making dreamcatchers for family and friends. Dreamcatchers are originally from native american culture and are sometimes referred to as Sacred hoops, traditionally used as talismans to protect people from bad dreams.
I have also been knitting since the year 2007, I was dependent on knitting guides and magazines at first but soon I started designing my own knitting patterns. Knitting is my stress-buster, it calms my otherwise chaotic mind and gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction at having made something from scratch. It still takes a lot of time to knit every piece, thus I only knit every item once. The knitting patterns I designed are also for sale, here and on Ravelry.
