House of Memoir

House of Memoir .. Often described as an energetic and analytic soul with a heart for the people, a true story collector.

This derives from her passion of stimulating others to play to their true strength with a motto to win starting from within. The more she gets convinced of this being the gateway to authenticity, the more she recognises how challenging this journey can be. This observation led to the birth of House of Memoir; a haven she loves to refer to as home. Her mission is to uncover stories as a standard of

service while encouraging an authentic and purpose driven lifestyle. She accomplishes this via various ways; as an event host and speaker who - via her unique simulations - triggers interactive atmospheres with the aim to share food for thought. By helping those aspiring to lead change to discover the essence of their voice so that they can connect with the hearts of their audience in a purpose driven manner. Yet also by developing projects that focus on youth empowerment and cross generational understanding. All go hand in hand with the message that underlines all her activities - clear, targeted and a call to action; uncover the signature of your story!

Last saturday I got to witness an inspring day at an event called the African dream by . The stories of the speakers, each in their own way, highlighted the importance of sacrificing comfort to reach your goals. Are we prepared to loose it in order to gain IT? Unfolding destiny doesnt come without the necessary effort of pushing ourselves into change. We often run away from it yet little do we know that many answers to questions we ponder about are found in the midst of that process. What type of change have you been postponing due to the uncertainty that it comes with? My note to self is “chase it anyway, embrace it eitherway and trust your growth to hug you back some day”, cause it most definitely will.

"The greatest agony is bearing an untold story inside of you." - Maya Angelou

Last Tuesday I was allowed to share my story with girls from the empowerment project Bossgirls. In the midst of them I opened my backpack stuffed up with “the good, the bad and the ugly.” Yet what made my heart smile are the backpacks that opened up after it. That is what truly made the evening so special!

It took the girls courage to expose themselves and it surely took willpower to face their truth, but what followed next was priceless; feeling relieved due to a burden being lifted! How wonderful is that ?! Once again it proves how important it is to share our personal stories with each other. More often than not we do not only help ourselves with that, but also someone else to get over their struggles. These boss girls have taken their first steps towards that direction .. Kudos to them!!

Lots of love for the organization behind it as well. They are such a genuine team! My heart is filled with gratitude ❤

The month of June, what an intense month you have been. However, it ended in a beautiful way!

House of Memoir was honoured to host the luncheon of Ghana’s ambassador to the Netherlands that took place at her residence. It was amazing to be in the midst of so many ambitious Ghanaian women/entrepreneurs/professionals who are eager to effect change beyond the status quo. We laughed, connected and made a decision to start lifting each other up the more ‘cause indeed; we are the change that we seek!

I also left inspired by the touching stories of Amma Asante, Viola Sarkodee and Irene Hin, so honest and transparent! Life doesn’t only come with glitz and glamz and you women are truly an example of hard work and consistency. Kudos to you!

Much thanks to the Ghana Embassy for the invite, much appreciation towards Her Excellency for the warm welcome and much love for all who made this luncheon a memorable one. You make the aim to convert stories (of adversity) into tools of inspiration worth the while.

Today was such a special day, one to surely remember! I was nominated for the Communication Award 2018 by the oldest network organisation (that brings together various corporate members) of the Netherlands, the Nationale Haringpartij (founded in 1961). Thanks to the recommendation of the previous winner Sharon Breidel, a woman who’s career path has inspired me since the very first day I met her while participating in the Miss Charme run. Much thanks to you again!

Im not sure if unfortunately is the right word, ‘cause even though I wasn't the one to take home the award .. I can’t say otherwise than that I am blessed with a heart filled with so much gratitude! Making it to the finals and meeting so many beautiful people, having interesting conversations while looking forward to how we can connect from here on did it for me. This again is a reminder of great things that happen when you step out of your comfort zone. As I said at the beginning of this year; ‘’let go of control and allow the flow!’’

When you’re still in of about what happened the day before. I had the honour to host the program and moderate the panel of the first event by Ashlee Janelle Danso and her dad. And wow! This was a special one the least to say. I was so thrilled to experience that men felt comfortable enough to open up about their personal stories in relation to fatherhood. We spoke about flaws, about how pressure to perform impacted them, how father/son relationships got restored and how some due to loss will never get this opportunity.

Many stories had a painful root, yet opening up about it broke down walls were held high for too long. Tears were shed, laughters shared and limitations broken. This is why I do what I do, to unleash the unexpected and give a voice to the previously mute. I’m so thankful that I got to meet so many beautiful souls, im encouraged! Father and father to be? Make sure you don’t miss out on the next event!

WEEKLY INSPO.

It's a sunny afternoon when I decide to take a walk through the city. I arrived too early at an event so I figured .. let me make good use of my time. It ushered me into exploring areas that were unfamiliar to me and to walk around those that I haven’t been to in a while. Gain fresh inspiration was my on the spot made up goal. Slightly fuelled by the aim I had earlier that morning to write a weekly inspo; the only thing I had written down was ‘’Dear Wall’’ ...

A purpose driven lifestyle .. the key to a life of fulfilment. It proofs itself every single time. Hearing the stories behind people their exploits during the last Speakers Night proofed it again . When we realise that the gift of life is more about the value we can add to other people their lives instead of to our own alone; it all becomes more meaningful. Its about the bigger picture, not a temporary feeling. Mind you, we are the solution to a problem that only we can fix in the way we can. With the help of the authentic features we have. Don't underestimate your greatness, become more aware of it and push it to the surface! With that being said, it was an honour to host Speakers Night on March 21st in the midst of these inspiring people! Oef, what a blessed eve' it was, thankful ✨.

I've the honour to be the host of the next Speakers night as well; on May 16th. We'll hear about the power of diversity on the workplace. See you there? Check out the event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/163621967663910/

WE ARE THE WRITERS OF OUR OWN STORY.

The fact that we woke up today shows we’re blessed with another chance to choose how we are going to fill in the hours ahead of us. Mind you though .. everything we decide to do today effects our tomorrow. That also counts for everything we decide NOT to do.

So a fitting question to ask is; what have/have you not written down on your to do list? Will the future you that you aspire to be give you props for it?

Let’s challenge ourselves to answer the last question with a confident YES!

THE POWER OF LETTING GO.

Two days ago I felt absolutely honoured to give a workshop about ‘’the power of letting go!’’ at boss girls! The beauty of this topic lies in the fact that it allows us to reflect on what is holding us back to become the person we ought to be. Past mistakes, experienced shame, being in the wrong environment?

We had an honest talk about it while unfolding the reason why hanging on to those burdens feels like the easier path to take. Yet does it benefit us to ignore it? It really doesn’t. Along the way we agreed that the right time to deal with our baggage is from NOW on.

What I loved so much about the girls between 17-24 years old is that they were bold enough to show their vulnerability. Besides this they also got to the point of challenging their comfort zones right there and then! That all because of their aspiration to be the next leaders of change. I’m excited about their journey, ‘cause I trust it to result in nothing less than greatness!

Thanks for having me team boss girls
